Well, that is because confirming to other people's ideas is a lot more lucrative than thinking for yourself.

That's true. But I don't think there's anything wrong with that. After all, we are a synthesis of everyone we know and everything we hear, for these sum up all of our experiences. Almost every idea has already been expressed at some point by someone; it's rare to come up with something totally new.
