Johnny's Juniors (SixTONES) - TV Pia 12/14 2015

Mar 08, 2016 03:28

Happy Birthday, Yuugo!

I hope you'll have a wonderful day and year~ Continue to smile on stage and do your best as part of SixTONES! I didn't hit for Crea this year and dates don't work out very well for me, so I don't think I'll see you and SixTONES the first half of this year, but hopefully, something else will get announced and I'll get to go! ...I feel bad about not having new Yuugo icons. I really need to update my icons.

...TVfan's birthday message for Yuugo on Twitter was much better than this. It was pretty awesome. Thank you, TVfan. Whichever staff member wrote that knows Yuugo very well.

Anyway!

It's been ages since I last posted a translation, or at least it feels like it. I started this rather late and I should be sleeping, but at least I'm done, so I don't have to worry about this tomorrow and there's still plenty of time before the day is over.

I haven't been reading any idol magazines lately, so it's not from those and I didn't actually buy QLAP! though I really wanted to, so...TV Pia is was. Somewhat recent, and I own it myself, so I don't have to squint at scans or something.

Translation. SixTONES looking back on 2015, the year of their formation, and giving scores to themselves based on different themes. Individually, they also talk about their own personal goals as well as their thoughts about another member.

2015・2016’s Noteable Johnny’s Jrs Project
SixTONES

SixTONES who were formed in May of this year. After experiencing shows in the summer and a stage show, they’ve grown once again, so we had them look back on the year 2015. Whether it was during the photoshoot or the group talk, in any case, check out the six members who all get along really well!

Special feelings towards the word “member”

--- With 2015 being the year that SixTONES was formed, how was it?

Kyoumoto: Getting a group name is one of the dreams for us Juniors, so I was really happy. Not to mention, being able to play leading roles in the stage show “Shounentachi” was something big too.

Jesse: When you think about that, this one year had been like a dream. I didn’t think the six of us would have been able to become a group.

Tanaka: When it was decided, of course, we were happy, but everyone was doing their best frantically.

Kouchi: That’s right. From the Crea show when we announced our unit (“Johnny’s Ginza”), didn’t it feel like things went by really quickly?

Tanaka: It did.

Kouchi: I felt like time passed by in a blink.

Tanaka: It’s like, when we realized it, 2015 is already coming to an end (laughs).

Morimoto: Crea shows, “SamaSute (Gamushara! Summer Station)”, “Shounentachi”, and “Johnny’s World” starting in December, we were given chances to do four big jobs in this half a year.

Kyoumoto: They really became a good step-up for us.

Morimoto: To have a half a year so rich in content, I think it’s very rare.

Matsumura: Ever since we became SixTONES, don’t you feel a bit relieved when you see members’ names on “Gamushara!”’s (TV Asahi) schedule?

Tanaka: It’s like, I can be at ease.

Matsumura: Like, if a member is there, I can expect them to tease me and all (laughs).

Kouchi: I’ve come to think about the balance of our group. Things like, we need someone in this role, so I think I’ll be in this position.

Tanaka: Also, even when I’m doing a different job, I’ve come to think that it’d be nice if that job can turn into something that would be good for the group.

Kyoumoto: Despite how before, our feelings of needing to do our best on our own were stronger.

Jesse: Now, it’s not only for our own sake, but we’ve gained a sense of solidarity.

Tanaka: Because what we do for our own sake would become something for the sake of the group too.

Kouchi: In addition to that, when members get jobs, I get really happy! I’d think, “Sell our name!” (laughs).

--- In “Shounentachi” where you played leading roles for the first time, what kind of thoughts did you have?

Jesse: It was a strange feeling to have kouhais behind us.

Morimoto: Also, because we have a lot of members with strong personalities, we’ve never really been conscious about matching our moves. After doing the stage show, I feel like we got a sense of unity.

Jesse: Right, right. It’s like, we’re more in unison for small details too.

Tanaka: I feel like we’ve come to realize about things we should do as a group. Being able to stand on the same stage as our senpai, Snow Man, was a big reason too.

Kouchi: It was a really big one. We were able to watch and learn the demeanor to have during stage shows.

Kyoumoto: I feel like they taught us the rudiments of stage shows.

--- Well then, what have changed since you became SixTONES?

Jesse: I didn’t feel any sense of reality at first. Even when people called us “SixTONES”, I’d be like, “Ah, that’s right. We’re SixTONES.” (laughs). It was really embarrassing.

Tanaka: Wasn’t it awfully embarrassing to say and talk about “members” during MC for concerts? (laughs)

Kyoumoto: I know! Because we’ve never used the word member before. Lately though, even in private, I would say, “My member did...~” (laughs)

Tanaka: Ah, yes! Yes!

Kouchi: I say it a lot too!

Kyoumoto: Like, “Well, I went to eat out with a member and~” It’s like, to the point of “Do you have to say it that much?” (laughs).

It’s hard to give a score to ourselves

--- Well then, we’re thinking of having you give scores to the activities you’ve done this year based on six points. First, in regards to “teamwork”, Matsumura-kun, please give a score!

Matsumura: Me!? (laughs)

Jesse: Compared to before, we’ve come to be able to talk about a lot of different things.

Tanaka: Even though we’ve had serious talks before we became a group, I feel like our way of interacting with each other as part of work has gotten better. I think our teamwork on stage is good too.

Jesse: Yea. Well, well, I think we’d get a high score.

Matsumura: Is it okay for it to be from my point of view?

Tanaka: The score Hokuto feels is good is fine.

Matsumura: Well then, 40 points!

Morimoto: It’s surprisingly low.

Matsumura: That’s because I can’t say we get full marks for teamwork in terms of work. It’s a hopeful observation that I wish we’d be around the 40 points mark.

Kyoumoto: I think I’d give 25 points.

Kouchi: Why?

Kyoumoto: In the sense that we still have lots of room to grow.

Jesse: Right, we can totally still grow!

Matsumura: This means our teamwork is still not enough at all!

Jesse: It means we need much more experience.

Tanaka: That’s right.

--- Next is “Song”. Morimoto-kun, please give a score.

Morimoto: When speaking of “song”, it’s Jesse and Kyoumoto, so I thought it’d be the two of them to give the score, but unexpectedly, it’s me (laughs). Well, I guess it’s around 60 points.

Tanaka: The reason for that?

Morimoto: Jesse and Kyoumoto get 25 points each, right......

Tanaka: Right, right, the two of them together get 50 points.

Matsumura: What about the remaining 10 points? Ah, I think there aren’t many people who know about the singing abilities of the four of us. That’s why, how about let’s have those 10 points mean they should look forward to it?

Morimoto: I don’t think it’s anything worth hiding about though (laughs).

Matsumura: It means for people who wants to listen to the four of us sing as well, please definitely come to our concerts (laughs).

Jesse: Me and Kyoumoto though, if you compare the quality of our harmonies to Kinki (Kids) and TegoMasu, we still have a long way to go.

Kyoumoto: That’s right. We still haven’t reached that level yet at all.

Jesse: That’s why even 0 points would have been fine. I want to aim for 100 points, including things like writing songs and lyrics and playing instruments too. No one has started any instruments yet.

--- Well, about “Dance”, Jesse-kun, please.

Jesse: 30 points (immediate answer).

Tanaka: So fast! (laughs)

Jesse: This include expectations as well. Meaning, we can still go further.

Kyoumoto: That’s because we can aim for much higher, yea.

Jesse: Yea. To the point that I think dance can be 0 points too.

Tanaka: There are other Juniors who are better than us after all.

Morimoto: That is totally true.

Kouchi: With me, I’ve been avoiding, avoiding, and avoiding dancing (wry smile).

Jesse: But lately, even during breaks at rehearsals, Kouchi, you’d practise dancing in front of the mirror on your own.

Kouchi: As expected, I have to catch up on the parts I’ve fell behind on. Right now, I’m frantically practising!

--- In regards to “Acting”, Tanaka-kun.

Tanaka: Acting for stage shows is 15 points. If it’s filming, then I guess 30 points. When it’s video-related, everyone has had experience, but we couldn’t do acting on stage at all. Not to mention, it still feels like we’re being given jobs and chances to do them.

Jesse: I want all of us to become someone who people would say to, “Please definitely do this role!”

Morimoto: If that happens, that’d be amazing.

Jesse: Like, everyone would do lead roles.

Kyoumoto: Like our senpais.

Tanaka: From Mondays to Saturdays, all members of SixTONES would appear in dramas and fans would only get a break on Sundays, something like that (laughs).

Morimoto: Isn’t that crazy?

Matsumura: That’s what it means to in lead actors’ level!

--- Kyoumoto-kun for “Variety Show Ability”.

Kyoumoto: I wonder what our abilities for variety shows are like? Don’t we have this like, “atmosphere variety” part to us? [Note: This kind of gets explained in the talk and can’t be translated well, but Taiga is referring to how compared to the contents of what they talk about etc, it’s more their atmosphere, the way they act and look that’s more variety show-like.]

Tanaka: We do, we do. Probably, if you watch our talk with just captions, I think we’d be super boring (laughs).

Jesse: That’s because we ourselves think it’s funny and we feel satisfied just by that (laughs).

Kyoumoto: If it’s just the six of us having fun, we don’t actually know if the fans can follow along.

Kouchi: That’s right. Not to mention, we should become people that anyone who watches would think are funny.

Matsumura: Not just about episodes and people only we know.

Kyoumoto: Not just Johnnys’ fans, but it means we have be able to have talks where even the general public who listen would think, “These guys are idiots” and laugh.

Tanaka: I think all of us are “hinadan people” in the first place. [Note: Hinadan literally means tiered platform, but when it comes to variety shows, it refers to the talents and comedians who sit on the side and reacting to what’s going on in the shows through giving comments, making jokes, acting silly, etc]

Kouchi: Ah, I know what you mean (laughs).

Tanaka: That’s why, I wonder if a variety show with just us would work out.

Matsumura: No matter who is in charge, everyone would want to make jokes and act stupid.

Kyoumoto: Whether or not someone will give up acting stupid and become a MC will become a keypoint from hereon.

Tanaka: Well, what’s the score then?

Kyoumoto: About 20 points, I guess.

--- Last, for “Idol Ability”, Kouchi-kun, please!

Tanaka: When talking about idols, it’d be things like flying kisses.

Jesse: When you were small, Shintarou, your idol ability was 100 points!

Morimoto: Shut u~p! (laughs)

Jesse: Now is 0 points though (laughs).

Kyoumoto: Well, the score?

Kouchi: Well somehow, we’re aiming for somewhere that’s not Johnnys-like, right?

Tanaka: I don’t think our fans are looking for idol-like things from us either.

Kouchi: That’s why, 5 points.

Kyoumoto: Right. Though there’s a part of me that thinks we can stay this way too.

Jesse: If we raise our idol abilities suddenly, fans would just be surprised.

Matsumura: I think out of the 5 points though, 4 points are thanks to me. If I’m told, “Give a flying kiss,” I’d do it immediately.

Kouchi: You’re such a frivolous man!

Matsumura: !? That’s not it!

Jesse: If we give flying kisses, wouldn’t our fans increase at once?

Morimoto: Well then, maybe I’ll do about 30 times in one show then (laughs).

--- Lastly, tell us your goals for 2016 as SixTONES!

Kouchi: Concerts of course!

Kyoumoto: Yea, at any rate, I want to do a lot of work in places where we can hear live reactions from the audience.

Tanaka: This year, we were given chances to do a stage show, so next, I want to make it a year of SixTONES’ concerts.

Matsumura: If that happens, then it’ll be SixTONES first concert!?

Jesse: That’s right!

Kyoumoto: Concerts that will be announced in the name of SixTONES!

Morimoto: That’s nice!

Matsumura: Wouldn’t “SixSTONES 1st Concert” be good?

Together: Nice!

Jesse: With concerts as our goal, the six of us will do our best!

Giving a Score to SixTONES’s 〇〇

When we had purposely had members who didn’t have the image of each category give the score, everyone was quite troubled. When it came to decide on the poses to match the themes though, they were all enthusiastic about it! From the 5 members putting their hands of Matsumura’s head to strength their “teamwork” to Kyoumoto doing a pose without hesitation. It’s just that for “Acting Ability”, it seems like they’re acting out something…!?

Singing Ability - 60 points
Teamwork - 40 points
Variety Show Ability - 20 points
Dancing Ability - 30 points
Idol Ability - 5 points
Acting Ability - Stage Show 15 points, Film/Video 30 points

Morimoto Shintarou

Q1. Your personal goal for 2016

A1. This year, I was told by Jesse, “Don’t go surfing.” When I go to the beach, I’d get a suntan and I’m muscular, my body would get bigger (laughs). Next year though, I’m thinking of going surfing purposely, shape up and do my best to take care of my body. At the same time, I want to raise my technical skills for the dance styles I like.

Q2. When you feel glad to have members around

A2. about Tanaka
When Juri is around, I guess I can say the atmosphere of the group becomes better. Just with Juri being there, everyone becomes cheerful. He gets everyone all excited and hyped too. Even when we’re together in private, he’d make me laugh, but also listen to my problems and give advice, so he’s really reliable. When something happens, the first person I’d consult is Juri. He has that much of a presence within me.

Jesse

Q1. Your personal goal for 2016

A1. In “Johnny’s World”, SixTONES will do double dutch. I’m the only beginner, so in order to corner myself, I ended up saying, “I’ll do a backflip!”, so it’s been hard (laughs). I was put in the acrobatics team too, so it’s like, I have to do it seriously! Right now, I’m seriously practising acrobatics. That’s why next year, I want to improve my acrobatic skills.

Q2. When you feel glad to have members around

A2. about Kouchi
Kouchi is someone I don’t have to be sensitive about his needs and I can talk about anything with him. If trouble comes up, I’d first consult Kouchi. It’s not like he’d really give me advice, but just having him listen to my talk makes me feel better. We’d go out to eat or go on trips, and really, he’s a guy who I can relax with when we’re together.

Kouchi Yuugo

Q1. Your personal goal for 2016

A1. I want to gain more different experiences. Things like stage shows, concerts, and dramas, there are still many things I’ve never tried doing before. I want to try appearing in fashion magazines we normally don’t appear in as well. I want to do lots of things that are not Johnnys-like too. Next year, I will graduate from university, so I want to use my time well and do things where I can broaden my capacity for things.

Q2. When you feel glad to have members around

A2. about Matsumura
Hokuto has good memory. I’m the type to erase my memories once something is over, but Hokuto remembers choreographies from the past properly. While saying, “I think it’s something like this?”, he’d always teach me and he’s really reliable. It’s like, thank you for always being by my side (embarrassed).

Matsumura Hokuto

Q1. Your personal goal for 2016

A1. Next year, I want to anything and everything I can do. Of course that includes concerts with the six of us, but I want to get better with acting on stage as well as singing and dancing. If I experience various things, they’ll food for the future for me. Anything I can come into contact with, I’ll proactively go for it myself and I want to make it a year where I myself can grow and mature. Private wise, I want to go to Shikkoku, go around temples, eat udon and go around the area.

Q2. When you feel glad to have members around

A2. about Morimoto
There are many times I’ve been saved by the vigor that Shintarou has. The six of us connects, the atmosphere softens, and we all smile (thanks to him). There are times the air freezes because of him (laughs), but thanks to that, there are many times we end up heading towards a good direction too. I want him to keep throwing things at us without being scared from hereon too. That’s because if he does that, I’m sure our group will become stronger too!

Kyoumoto Taiga

Q1. Your personal goal for 2016

A1. For singing, up until now, I’ve been practising at karaoke on my own, after appearing in the stage show “Elizabeth”, my way of thinking has changed a lot. After learning the basics of a musical, I feel like my way of singing has changed. In that case, I thought if I learn the basics of pop music, then I can improve myself even more. Next year, I want to get closer to my ideal way of singing through a technical approach.

Q2. When you feel glad to have members around

A2. about Jesse
If I’m speaking in terms of my partner for singing, then Jesse’s existence is a must for me. I don’t have feelings of rivalry towards him at all either. If the two of us compete against each other, I feel like our harmony parts won’t sound like one. From hereon too, as my partner for singing, I want the two of us to pull our group forward!

Tanaka Juri

Q1. Your personal goal for 2016

A1. This year, compared to developing and improving something, I feel like it’s been a year where I’ve given it all I got for everything I’ve done. That’s why next year, I want to place focus on honing my skills. I want to write songs and lyrics too and find my own style of music. Normally, we’re often given chances to sing our senpais’ songs, but I want to pursuit music that only I can do.

Q2. When you feel glad to have members around

A2. about Kyoumoto
In terms of our performance on stage, thanks to Kyoumoto, the average value of our singing abilities has been pulled out, so I’m thankful for that. Also, he has experienced a stage show outside of Johnnys’ ones, so when we did “Shounentachi”, I felt reassured to have him around. When Kyoumoto is around, I feel like I can see my position within the group and what’s lacking about me.

Hope everyone enjoyed this~
