Kis-My-Ft2 - Potato April 2012

Jan 30, 2014 23:21

My last full KisuMai interview translation was actually posted in...August?? For their debut anniversary. Wow, that's ages ago. Well, considering I started working on this since September and kept on having long breaks in between...I guess it made sense. It's not like it was hard to translate. I just couldn't keep my concentration long enough, oops.

I managed to finish this before the day ends though, so I'm posting this! This will be the last post though. I managed to post three things last year, but yea...not possible this year. I can start working on some other articles though now!

Translation. The seven of them talk about what each member is like and tries to give advice to each of them. As to how serious the advice may be though... Read about how they think about each other and possibly learn some new things about each other too?

Kis-My-Ft2
Team ★ KisuMai Strategy Meeting

With the release of their third single “SHE! HER! HER!” on March 21st, their first album “Kis-My-1st” on March 28th, and the start of their national tour on April 1st coming up, KisuMai is holding an emergency meeting to strengthen their team work! (Interview was done early February)

We’re doing live coverage of how the meeting goes in about 10000 characters!

Mitsu has a big heart, but his height is short!?

Kitayama: This time’s theme is apparently a strategy meeting to make KisuMai into an even more appealing group.

Miyata: First, with KitaMitsu, it’s better if you improve your batting form.

Kitayama: Don’t you immediately quote what was said just now (when photos were taken)~ (laughs)

Miyata: Sorry...(laughs).

Tamamori: Mitsu is a very stoic person.

Yokoo: That’s true. He would always do his best with dietary restrictions...

Fujigaya: Also, no matter what it is, he does things with utmost effort.

Senga: I think how he takes the initiative to lead the group all the time is manly and cool.

Nikaido: He’s reliable too. Speaking of which, in the past, Mitsu would get angry seriously and go, “Do things properly!” at me, who was in a rebellious stage. That was the reason I was able to have a change of heart. I’m really thankful towards him.

Yokoo: I have words from KitaMitsu I can’t forget either.

Kitayama: What?

Yokoo: “Your hairstyle right now is the best” (laughs). Up until then, I’ve never been told anything like that by KitaMitsu, so I was surprised.

Miyata: When I went to eat yakiniku with KitaMitsu a while ago, I was happy that he grabbed a toothpick for me (laughs).

Senga: Alsooo~ Mitsu’s face when sleeping is cute.

Kitayama: Not these kinds of things (laughs). To continue working like this, do you have any advice?

Tamamori: Mitsu is the type of person who can express and show his own charm, so I feel that there is nothing we can give advice on.

Yokoo: Even if we do give advice, I don’t think Mitsu will listen to us (laughs).

Senga: Oh, right. Mitsu has a big heart, but his height is short (laughs), so why don’t you try putting secret insoles into your shoes?

All: (cracks up)

Kitayama: Remember this when it’s your turn. I’ll say what I want (laughs).

Gaya’s sense for metaphorical retorts is seriously awesome!

Fujigaya: Well, next, please give me some advice.

Miyata: Gaya-san’s power of expression is seriously amazing! For example, the way you show yourself when standing on stage is really, really good. That’s why, there’s nothing we can give advice on.

Fujigaya: No, but I want something~

Miyata: If I have to say something, then it’s how sunglasses really suit you.

Kitayama: That’s not an advice!

Miyata: Isn’t giving advice kind of difficult?

Nikaido: Do you know the meaning of the word advice?

Miyata: I do~

Fujigaya: Well, does that mean that even during crosstalks for magazines like this, I should always wear sunglasses?

Miyata: No, no, not like that. It depends on the time and place.

Senga: Gaya-san, you like jeans, right? So, how about trying to wear skinny jeans?

Fujigaya: Is that advice?

Senga: Since you’re tall, I thought maybe you should try wearing slimmer pants every now and then. I want to see Gaya-san wearing something stylish and dressy too.

Fujigaya: Well, let’s go shopping together next time, and can I have you choose my clothes for me?

Senga: Okay, I got it.

Nikaido: I think Gaya’s sense for metaphorical retorts is seriously awesome. The other day too, seeing Miyata’s hair in pompadour style, he said, “Hey, is that an indoor shoe!”

All: (cracks up)

Fujigaya: Did I say something like that?

Nikaido: Seriously, isn’t it funny?

Miyata: It’s true that it’s funny...

Senga: Also, the embarrassed grin Gaya-san shows when he almost bombs the joke is cute!

Miyata: I get it, I do. Even when we play games among members where we can’t laugh, Gaya-san’s skills to withstand not laughing is really great, so he wouldn’t quite laugh. That’s why, when such a Gaya-san suddenly shows his smile one moment, it makes me happy.

Fujigaya: What do you mean with that (laughs).

Tamamori: I have something I want to say to Gaya too. I’ve been thinking of this for a while, but don’t you drink too much coffee?

Fujigaya: Ahaha!

Tamamori: If you drink that much coffee, then you won’t be able to sleep.

Fujigaya: No, no, I can sleep fine. But well, if you say that, I’ll try to drink moderately. If I do that, I might be able to sleep even better.

Yokoo: By the way, Taisuke, when you know when work is going to end or when you have a day off, you’d immediately make plans, right? That’s why I haven’t quite been able to hang out or eat with you.

Fujigaya: (laughs). It’s true that I made my plans really quickly... Even I’m conscious of that.

Yokoo: We used to often go shopping together, but lately, we haven’t really got the chance, so let’s go shopping, after not having done so in a while!

Fujigaya: Yea.

Tama, when meddling around with Miyata, is cute

Kitayama: Okay, next, let’s go with Tama.

All: (becomes silent and ponders)

Nikaido: He’s a good-looking guy (laughs). As expected, his face is cool, yea! In addition to that, Tama has a habit of puffing up his cheeks when styling his hair.

Tamamori: Really!?

Kitayama: Tama, I think it’s better if you act kinder towards people.

All: (cracks up)

Tamamori: Don’t joke! It’s seriously harsh, if I’m told that (laughs).

Nikaido: Wouldn’t you (Miyata) feel this way the most?

Miyata: Well, that’s true. I want him to understand more about with how much force used when hitting people, it will hurt... That’s actually a joke (laughs), Tama calling me names and such is a type of expression of love (with a smiling and happy expression). This guy is actually a really kind human being. That’s why he can’t attack people seriously.

Nikaido: That’s true. When Tama is messing around with Miyata, he’s cute (laughs).

Fujigaya: Speaking of which, a while ago when everyone ate out together, Tama whispered, “To be able to say the things we want to say among members like this is nice.” I really think that it’s true and to be able to hear such words from Tama somehow made me happy.

Yokoo: With Tama, at first glance, it seems like he doesn’t think about things much, but really, he’s a level-headed person who has his own thoughts and opinions properly.

Kitayama: That’s true. His outward appearance is airy and fluffy, but inwardly, he’s level-headed.

Miyata: How he doesn’t just follow the crowd is cool too!

Kitayama: I also think that in that kind of good meaning, him being my-paced is cool. It’s just that sometimes, he’s too my-paced and every now and then, only Tama’s time is moving (laughs).

Yokoo: True (laughs). Also, as I thought, Tama is good at using puppy eyes~ I’d always watch him and think, “He’s good~” (laughs).

Kitayama: Anyone else who wants to say something?

All: (again, becomes silent and ponders)

Tamamori: It seems like there is none.

Senga: Ah, I have something! There’s something I’ve been wondering for a while about Tama.

Tamamori: What, what?

Senga: During concerts, it’s amazing how you manage to dance will all the accessories you wear.

Miyata: So an advice that maybe it’s better to take off some accessories when dancing?

Senga: Yea. That’s because if you wear a necklace when dancing, it would hurt when it bounces and hit your teeth!

Tamamori: I’ve never really cared about accessories hitting my teeth. Well, but it looks dangerous like that to you, I’ll hold back a bit.

Senga: Does that mean it only hits for me because my dance is intense, and in Tama’s case, it’s fine?

Fujigaya: Tama, has your necklace actually hit your teeth and you thought it hurt?

Tamamori: Probably never.

Senga: I also own the same necklace that Tama wears, but when I kept it on when dancing, it hit my face a lot~

Tamamori: Really? Which part of the necklace hit you where? (while touching the necklace, Senga and Tamamori gets deep into their talk)

Nika, please close the cap of your pet bottle

Kitayama: Next, about Nika!

Miyata: Nika’s cool point is the fact that he’s really frank.

Yokoo: Mischievous!

Kitayama: Honest!

Tamamori: His chin (laughs). No, no, that’s a lie... Nika’s cool point is the fact that he can do acrobatics I guess.

Senga: He has excellent reflexes after all.

Nikaido: Ah, but things like soccer and baseball, I can’t play those sports type of things.

Fujigaya: Eh, but you can play basketball.

Nikaido: I can only play basketball.

Kitayama: Eh!? You can play basketball?

Nikaido: Yea. Since I played basketball in elementary and junior high school.

Kitayama: Is that so? This is the first time I’ve heard of this.

Miyata: In the past, I went this amusement park-like place with Nika. Then, while we were going around the place, I lost sight of Nika. Wondering where he had gone, I looked around and found him playing a basketball game on his game (laughs).

All: (cracks up)

Miyata: Not to mention, he was sweating lots while playing.

Nikaido: It’s true I did that (laughs).

Fujigaya: How cute. I played basketball too, so I understand your feelings very well. When you see the ball, unconsciously, you just feel like playing.

Yokoo: That’s right. What I think is Nika’s cool face is the fact that he can sacrifice himself and do his best.

Fujigaya: I think it’s cool how he does impersonations with all his might too.

Senga: For me, I like the way Nika laughs. That’s because it’s cute (laughs).

Nikaido: What are you saying? (laughs)

Miyata: From me is a precaution. Nika, it’s better for you to close the cap of an unfinished bottle of drink properly!

Yokoo: I thought of saying that too.

Miyata: When you don’t close it, someone might make it spill.

Nikaido: I’m sorry.

Miyata: ...just now, the problem has been solved (laughs).

Kitayama: Also, there are times where Nika would eat just a bite of the rice in a bentou and go off somewhere. Since he would just leave the unfinished bentou without covering it up, the rice would often dry out (laughs).

Nikaido: Ah, it’s exactly as everyone says! I’ll be careful from now on!

When Watta is playing baseball, he’s shining!

Kitayama: Next, let’s go with Yokoo-san.

Miyata: In any case, Yokoo-san is a reliable person.

Kitayama: He’s very punctual with like meet-up times and he’s really accurate with time.

Nikaido: He’s also respectful and diligent!

Senga: It’s true he’s diligent. That’s because the chances of Watta giving us birthday presents is quite high (laughs). Also, his choice of the presents he prepares is amazing too. He’d pinpointedly choose things that you’d kind of want to get, but you wouldn’t buy with your own money, so that really makes me happy.

Miyata: For me, I was happy when Yokoo-san took my rollerskates and said, “Here, these are yours,” yesterday (laughs). He’s always concerned about us members.

Tamamori: Also, how Watta often stumble over his words is cute (laughs).

Nikaido: When I see Yokoo-san who would seem like the type not to fool around, fool around with all his might every now and then, I think it’s cute (laughs).

Fujigaya: Actually, I’ve been told by Wataru, “The one who likes you the most is me!” (laughs). I can’t forget those words. Well, I was honestly happy, but as a joke, I replied with, “I like you the third most.” Then this guy, he was a bit down (laughs).

Miyata: For today’s Potato’s photoshoot, everyone played baseball together, but Yokoo-san was seriously cool!

Fujigaya: When Wataru is playing baseball, he’s like a different person and really shines!

Miyata: I think so too. Today, among all the members, his way of throwing the ball was definitely the best. I was throwing like this… (with gestures, he reproduces an awkward form)

Nikaido: Me too. I was throwing like an okama…(laughs). [Note: Okama can mean a male homosexual, but also an effeminate man]

All: (cracks up)

Kitayama: That’s true. It was the form of an okama pitching.

Nikaido: But Yokoo-san was the only one that was different!

Miyata: Yea, yea. The way he threw was fast too and cool.

Nikaido: Right! That’s why I think you should appeal to people the fact you’re good at baseball more.

Yokoo: (embarrassed) Thank you. Well then, I’ll appeal to people lots about how I’m good at baseball from hereon.

Fujigaya: And in the end, it’s fine if you become a baseball player too.

Yokoo: That’s not possible (laughs).

Tamamori: Also, Watta is slender, so I think it’s better if you gain more muscles while playing baseball.

Yokoo: Got it. I don’t have much meat on my body now, so I’ll start with gaining weight first.

Animal Expert Senga’s trivia lecture begins!?

Kitayama: Well then, next is Senga!

Tamamori: When speaking of Senga, it’s dance as expected.

Yokoo: When Senga is dancing, he’s definitely the coolest.

Nikaido: Gaya’s dance is the sexy style and cool too, but Senga has a different type of coolness.

Fujigaya: For me, I think the way he counts the rhythm before he starts dancing is cool.

Senga: Thank you. Recently, I went to L.A., the centre of these things, alone and took dance lessons there. An instructor who has done the choreography for worldwide famous sings taught me and I’ve learned so many different things that I can’t keep count. I really feel that it’s great that I’ve went.

Yokoo: The other day, Senga told me, “You’ve gotten better at dancing,” and I was really happy. Having trained in L.A., Senga-kun, please continue to teach me how to dance from hereon too!

Senga: Got it (laughs).

Tamamori: Also, the fact that Senga is a natural airhead is cute.

Yokoo: That’s true. The fact that he is one would show every now and then.

Fujigaya: Also, the fact that he’d sent photos that he has taken on the streets when he went out to my cellphone is cute.

Kitayama: Speaking of which, when Senga buys his own breakfast or something at the convenience store, he’d always buy for us too, while he’s at it. That really makes me happy.

Yokoo: His sense for the things he buys is good too. Thanks always.

Kitayama: Well, it’s about time we should give some advice to Senga.

All: (falls silent thinking)

Miyata: Ah, won’t it be better if you cut your nails a bit more?

Tamamori: What’s with that?

Miyata: Ah, no, it’s just that I glanced and noticed that Senga’s nails were long (laughs).

Yokoo: Senga-kun knows quite a bit of trivia about animals, so perhaps it’s better if you appeal that fact more.

Nikaido: Animal Senga (laughs).

Senga: That’s because I’ve spoken about animals quite a bit on radio recently. The other day too, I presented some trivia about rabbits on radio.

Kitayama: That was interesting. You did rather well!

Nikaido: Oh, right! Present something about animals that you haven’t done on radio yet here.

Senga: Alright. What should I talk about...(ponders)

Kitayama: Well then, is it okay for us to choose the topic?

Senga: Un, alright.

Kitayama: Then, trivia about “armadillo” please.

Senga: Armadillo? M~h, my trivia about armadillo aren’t that interesting. So, no armadillo...

Yokoo: How about “hedgehog”?

Senga: Hedgehogs, huh. There was something. (after thinking for some time) Ah, I remember! You see, the quills of hedgehogs are very, very sharp.

Yokoo: How sharp?

Senga: They say it can even pierce through the skin of a rhinoceros, which it said to be top class hard skin even among animals.

Tamamori: You totally made that up, didn’t you?

Senga: No, it’s true.

Kitayama: Really? Well then, if it can pierce through the skin of a rhinoceros, then it can pierce through the skin of an elephant too?

Senga: Of course. An elephant would be a piece of cake!

All: Heh~

Fujigaya: To be able to come up with trivia when told suddenly, that’s amazing.

Kitayama: You’re seriously amazing.

Senga: Also, now, in America, there is an outbreak of hedgehogs.

Kitayama: Is that so~?

Senga: There seems to be a lot of accidents where people were walking and there were hedgehogs on the roadside, and their quills pierced into people’s feet. That’s why it’s better to be careful.

Miyata: It means that hedgehogs’ quills would pierce through sneakers that humans wear too...

Senga: Of course they do. Boots are easy too. That’s because it’s animal skin.

Kitayama: Surprisingly, your trivia comes one after another.

Senga: If you have any other questions about animals, I’ll answer them.

Nikaido: I have something I want to ask then. What’s the fastest speed cheetahs can run at?

Senga: U~m, I think it’s probably about 200km(/hour)?

Nikaido: Around?

Senga: I think it’s around 200km. If I’m not mistaken, it’s slower than the shinkansen.

Tamamori: Hey, isn the fastest speed for the cheetah 113km?

Yokoo: I think it’s around 130km.

Fujigaya: (taking out his own cellphone) Well then, I’ll try searching up the fastest speed of the cheetah on the Internet.

Senga: Please.

Nikaido: While Gaya is searching that, can I ask another question?

Senga: Sure.

Nikaido: What’s with lions’ mane?

Senga: Mane?

Nikaido: What meaning does it have?

Senga: M~h… That specific of a question, I don’t know (laughs).

Fujigaya: (while using his phone) Ah, I found it! U~m, it says the fastest speed of a cheetah is 113km.

Tamamori: (leans forward) I said 113km earlier.

All: Whoa~!

Kitayama: Why, Tama is more knowledgeable.

Fujigaya: Maybe Senga’s animal expert character moved on to Tama?

Tamamori: I remembered reading about it in an animal illustrated encyclopedia. You surprisingly remember these things.

Senga: ... Well then, with today, I will seal this character (laughs).

All: (cracks up)

Senga: I thought it would be about 200km.

Tamamori: Isn’t 200km crazy fast?

Senga: I knew they were slower than the shinkansen though.

Yokoo: No, no, you just didn’t know at all, right?

Senga: Yes. I didn’t know at all (laughs).

Fujigaya: (while looking at the screen of his cellphone) Not to mention, it seems like cheetahs can only run their fastest for up to 400m.

Yokoo: That’s because their hearts are small.

Miyata: Ah, this time, the character moved to Yokoo-san (laughs).

Nikaido: I have a trivia about rhinoceros too! If I recall correctly, rhinoceros can barely see with their eyes.

Kitayama: Is that so?

Fujigaya: More like, we’ve only been talking about animals since earlier.

Senga: Because rhinoceros can’t see what’s in front of them, they’d charge foward. That’s apparently why there are many accidents where they run into trains.

Fujigaya: Whoa~you know a lot. Welcome back, Senga-kun (laughs).

Miyata’s best clothes for this year is checkered flannel shirt

Kitayama: Well, last is Miyata!

Yokoo: Miyata-kun has quite a few habits.

Senga: Right, right. Like, when he’s bored, his hands would move a lot.

Fujigaya: Also, he uses “普通に/futsuuni” [Note: The translation depends on the context a lot because nowadays, especially young people would use this phrase that’s actually not grammatically correct, but regular definitions include like normally, ordinarily, commonly, etc] during conversations a lot.

Yokoo: Look around restlessly after saying his opinion is also a habit of his.

Kitayama: Does anyone have any advice to such a Miyata?

Tamamori: For now, I think he should lose more weight!

Yokoo: For me, I’d like Miyata-kun to gain more interest in fashion.

Fujigaya: Eh, but Miyata is rather fashionable lately.

Kitayama: (points at the flannel shirt Miyata is wearing as part of his private clothes) But you know, I’m not sure about wearing this six days a week (laughs). This checkered flannel shirt is this year’s regular (item), right?

Miyata: That’s right. It’s because it’s my best clothes for this year (laughs).

Kitayama: We’ve only been talking about his habits and clothes, so how about for the end, all of us talk about the cool points of Miyata?

Nikaido: As expected, it’s wotagei, right?

Senga: His smile is cute (laughs).

Kitayama: For me, I think the fact that he can be kind to anyone is cool.

Tamamori: Miyata’s cool point? M~h, there’s really none (laughs). Ah, but Miyata’s words of “I like Tama” are unforgettable in many ways.

Miyata: It’s kind of embarrassing~

Kitayama: Well, well, so we’ve talked about various things in regards to our members like this, but as KisuMai, we have our third single and first album’s releases, as well as our national tour and events all crammed to be coming up, so we must do our best to strengthen our teamwork even more.

Fujigaya: Since it’s the first time for us to do a tour that’s connected to our album, I’m really looking forward to it.

Miyata: As I though, I’d like people who is coming to KisuMai’s concerts for the first time to think it’s interesting.

Fujigaya: And then, and then?

Miyata: And for people who have seen KisuMai’s concerts before too, to think they want to come again. I want to make it to be such a tour!

Tamamori: You say the same thing every time.

Miyata: Eh!? Isn’t this a good comment that can be used every time?

Kitayama: Ahahaha! Miyata counterattacked by getting angry himself (laughs).

Hope people enjoyed this~
