Change of Heart
By Shattered Tenshi
Kazuma finally gave up after a while. After all, even people at the office were starting to look at them weird, and he didn't want Nishimoto to do something even more that might make them stand out or even get into trouble. It was why he was sitting at an Italian restaurant that was definitely too high-class for his liking with Nishimoto. If he went out with the other once, perhaps Nishimoto would stop bothering him so much.
Staring at the food in front of him, Kazuma felt rather lost though. Was there any specific table manners he had to follow? There was no way he could relax in this setting and he deeply regretted the fact that he didn't ask Nishimoto to just take him out to ramen or something.
Nishimoto looked at Kazuma with an amused smile. "Just eat however you want."
"Eh?" Kazuma looked up in surprise.
"Don't need to worry about etiquette or anything. Just enjoy the food in your own way." Nishimoto started to eat himself.
Kazuma didn't like Nishimoto reading his thoughts so easily, but he wasn't about to cause a commotion in the restaurant. Trying some of the food, he had to hold back on a surprised sound because it was really delicious. He had never tried something like this before. Not wanting to act like a child though, he tried to ate the food as calmly as he could.
Nishimoto just watched Kazuma in amusement, taking note of even the smallest reactions from the other.
It seemed like Nishimoto had ordered them a full course so by the time they finished dessert, Kazuma was completely full and couldn't help but slouch in his chair a little bit.
"Good?" Nishimoto asked with a smile.
Kazuma looked at Nishimoto and took a moment before nodding. "Yea."
"That's good to know," Nishimoto said, nodding.
When Nishimoto paid the bill, Kazuma thought about protesting, but then again, he didn't want to know how much the meal had cost. He had a feeling it would cost a good chunk of his paycheque. Or maybe it was an exaggeration, but still, it probably cost many more times than any meal he would have outside. If Nishimoto wanted to treat him, then Kazuma would just let him. After all, Kazuma had no plan to accept any more dinner invitations from the other.
Nishimoto ended up driving Kazuma back to his home directly again. When the car pulled to a stop in front of Kazuma's house, he mumbled a quick thanks before moving to leave the car, but Nishimoto grabbed his wrist.
Kazuma immediately turned his head. "What do you want?"
"Aww, don't have to be so feisty. I was just wondering when we can go out again," Nishimoto said.
"Never," Kazuma said, trying to pull his hand back.
"Why not? How about your birthday? Is it any time soon? Or would mine come first? It'd be worth going out to dinner for a celebration, right?" Nishimoto smiled.
Kazuma made a face. "I'm not going to celebrate my birthday with you! You don't have to know when it is."
"You're going to just leave me like this?"
"And why not?" Kazuma huffed. "I went out to dinner with you once. That's enough. We're back to just being colleagues now."
Nishimoto's expression darkened and with a little more strength, he pulled Kazuma towards him, crushing their lips together. He was quick to deepen the kiss and wrapped a hand around the back of Kazuma's head so the other couldn't run away so easily.
By the time Nishimoto pulled back, Kazuma was rather breathless and his cheeks were flushed. "You...!" He raised his hand but Nishimoto managed to stop him.
"Just admit that you enjoyed the kiss." Nishimoto smirked.
"Never!" Kazuma struggled some more and finally managed to get Nishimoto to let go of him. Without saying anything else, he stepped out of the car and ran back towards his own house. Even after he slapped the front door closed behind him, too flustered to care about his family hearing that or not, Kazuma could hear his heart thumping loudly in his ears.
He cursed Nishimoto under his breath. It seemed like the other wouldn't give up so easily. As much as he hated that, Kazuma couldn't help but wonder if a part of him was starting to become attracted to the other.
Not that he would ever admit.
Author's Notes: Likely the last bit of the drama AU in this countdown project. Still have other AUs to write for after all and there aren't many days left! I actually have no idea how the two might actually get together because Kazuma is stubborn but Kazuhiko is also super persistent. Mh...I'll have to think about things.
