Merely an Idiot in Love
By Shattered Tenshi
Hiromitsu didn't think much about it at first. After all, it wasn't something new and he knew just how much Taisuke hated being alone, so he didn't think much about Taisuke being constantly with people, whether it'd be himself or someone else.
That's why he didn't understand why he started to care suddenly, especially when he and Taisuke had been together for almost a year. They even lived together already, so why was he questioning himself now?
Maybe it was because he overheard a younger Junior talking to another Junior about Taisuke. That "Fujigaya-kun and Yokoo-kun really get along well, don't you think?"
Perhaps subconsciously, that was when Kitayama started to pay attention to Taisuke even more than before, especially his interactions with Yokoo.
The more he saw, the more uncomfortable he became. Kitayama noticed how easily Taisuke would hug Yokoo, how easily Yokoo can make Taisuke laugh, how easily they would share smiles. Even in front of cameras. Taisuke would never do that to him in front of cameras. There was always a certain distance between them in front of cameras, and Kitayama started to wonder why it was like that.
What exactly did Taisuke feel about Yokoo? Kitayama was almost afraid to find out. It wasn't like him, he knew it, but he couldn't help it either.
Even as he was trying to sleep, those same thoughts bothered him. When he was trying to sleep and couldn't, there was clearly something wrong.
Rolling around on the couch, Kitayama grabbed a pillow and threw it over his own face, just trying to fall asleep. There was still some time before rehearsal starts seeing how they had to wait for other members to arrive, including Taisuke who had a recording and Senga who was still at school.
Sometime later, Kitayama still haven't fallen asleep yet. He heard the door opening and immediately, a familiar voice was heard.
"Wataru! There was a new bakery that opened near my home! We've got to try it sometime soon!"
Kitayama felt his heart clenching and trying not to be obvious, he shifted the pillow so he could try to see Taisuke. His hands tightened into a fist when he noticed how Taisuke hugged Yokoo in his excitement and how Yokoo smiled at Taisuke dotingly, nodding his head in agreement to try some cakes together later.
Kitayama knew it was stupid, but the burning feeling of jealousy wouldn't leave him. If he tried to think logically, he might realize that Taisuke told Wataru first about the bakery because he was supposed to be sleeping and Taisuke wasn’t rude enough to just wake him up like that and Yokoo would be more interested in cakes than Kitayama. Except, he wasn’t thinking logically and that only made Kitayama feel that Taisuke liked Yokoo even more.
Soon, Kitayama found it hard to keep the act up, trying to remain in a good mood when he was awake and not waking up from sleep. He became grouchy and gloomy and most certainly not initiating any interaction with Taisuke. In short, he was avoiding the other.
Despite all that, it didn't seem to stop Taisuke from hanging out with Yokoo constantly. That almost confirmed Kitayama's suspicions. If Taisuke didn't love him anymore, he would just have to learn how to let go.
Kitayama just wanted Taisuke to be happy.
Omake
"Hiro, you're an idiot."
"You've said that many times already."
"So? I have to say it a few more times!" Taisuke exclaimed. "Otherwise, you'll never remember how much of an idiot you were..." He shifted closer to Kitayama on the bed and snuggled against the other.
"Hai, hai..."
"...don't you ever dare let me go," Taisuke mumbled against Kitayama's chest.
Kitayama smiled softly. "I promise." He paused. "You promise to stop hanging out with Yokoo-san so much too."
"Ehhh..." Taisuke lifted his head and pouted.
"You're only going to make me jealous again and think stupid things," Kitayama warned.
Taisuke pursed his lips. "But maybe it's nice to have Hiro think stupid things sometimes."
"Hah!?"
Laughing, Taisuke said, "That's because if Hiro becomes jealous, then I know you still care and love me, right?"
Kitayama tightened his arms around Taisuke. "You don't have to use those kind of ways to assure that I love you. You hear?"
"I know, I was just joking..." Taisuke stuck out his tongue playfully. "I'll try, but I can't promise. Yokoo is my best friend after all. He’s important to me. You hang out a lot with Tottsu too yourself!"
Kitayama let out a sigh. "...alright, yea, you're right. Sorry."
"It's okay~" Taisuke sang as he pecked Kitayama on the cheek before snuggling against the other once again. "Just as long as you don't doubt my love for you again..."
"I won't," Kitayama murmured. "I won't let go of you..."
"Un, don't let go of me, and I won't let go of HIro either..."
By the time they fell asleep, there was a small smile grazing both of their faces.
Author's Notes: I think when I wrote this, I had trouble writing fics in general (still not really out of that slump either), so it took a while to write and it didn't end up to be that long. O-oh well? >>'' I don't have much to say considering it's been so long. It's weird to think how I've never crossposted it until now.
