Robert Scott Tyler - helpful hardware man

Dec 21, 2007 20:57

Yesterday Adam and I were on our way back to Auburn to check on things and while in the car Gary (mom's co-worker) called and told me that they had just found out that Mr. Tyler passed away. Mr. Tyler worked with my mom since she began working at Huff Rental and I worked with him for 3 years while i was in high school. He was an amazing person, caring, and loved the ladies.

Mr. Tyler dedicated over 40 years of his life working for the Huffstutler family, specifically at their downtown Homewood hardware store. He was one of the sweetest people (a valentine's day birthday was perfect for him) and it was an honor to know him. He worked his 40 hours a week up until a few months ago when he fell and it landed him in the hospital. He was even honored earlier this year on his 90th birthday with a write up in the Birmingham News and as a special "Thank You" from the City of Homewood, he was given a golden hammer to commemorate all his years of hard work.

This man will truly be missed by every person he came in contact with, leaving nothing but fond times and great memories.

His funeral service will be held this Sunday, December 23rd.
