Do you guys like fanfics ? I like reading them, especially LOTS & LOTR ones, but I never tried to write any. I feel like I can't know the character well enough to dare writing about him. Anyway, I had to write one for
themiddleearth ABC challenge, where my prompt were : Frodo & The One Ring. I got lucky, these two are canon. And you know what :
I WAS THIRD PLACE !! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT !!
I never wrote anything before, and I didn't thought it was any good, but I'm really happy. So, here's the fic, very short as the challenge was between 100 and 500 words :
Seven years.
It’s been seven years since he destroyed it in the fire of Mount Doom. Seven years since Sauron died, leaving the Middle Earth for good. Seven years since Aragorn was crowned king and peace finally came back. Seven years.
For some of them, it seemed like forever. For Sam’s kids for example. Even though he didn’t know what his dear friend was doing now, if he was happy or sad, he knew he made the right choice. The journey might have broken him; it was for the greater good. His sacrifice was made for all the people, all the hobbits he knew. Thanks to him, the kids would only know peace. They wouldn’t experience war, violence and suffering as he did. As they all did.
Staring at the sea in the Grey Heavens, Frodo couldn’t help but remember the ring. The One Ring. Sometimes, he managed to forget it for weeks. And then it came back. Obsession. After seven years, he could still feel the weight of the golden ring on his neck, the need to hold it tight. The eye of the great villain searching for him too.
He will never get rid of those feelings.
Never.
It will be part of him until his last breath, but that’s something he won’t tell anyone. Not even Gandalf.
Once again, he wished Sam was there.
