it's not that we should lower our expectations of people, per se
but we should have more realistic expectations of our friends or lovers. they're human, too. just like us.
seek after grace in your heart to make room for the faults of others.
it's a good thing we have spring, summer, winter & fall. i mean, they remind us of so much. that for life to keep going, it needs to change. seasons. ups & downs, highs & lows. each season serves its own purpose. admire beauty where it exists and at the same time, grow in appreciation towards the things for which your heart longs. lessons in not taking things for granted, i suppose. overall, i suppose it's really about contentment. cherishing where you are and how things are and realizing there's nothing much you can do to change the weather. it's too easy to complain, wishing things were different. i wish it were cooler. i'm tired of the damn heat.
i'm glad it's warm. i'm glad people are coming out of their houses & building community with their neighbors. i'm glad for warmth late into the night. i'm thankful for strong summer storms, which help remind me how small i am. i'm thankful for short, swift breezes on hot, humid days. i'm thankful for soft, simple rains racing quickly to my body, cooling off the day.
a time to wash away the remnants of what's dead & past and breathe in the fresh air of a new day, in humility, thankful that life is always changing and that we can change, too.
