This entire entry is dedicated to Bayleigh, my gorgeous niece who I love dearly, and miss with my entire being.
Dear Bayleigh,
Today, I saw your photograph, the one that sits next to my bed. I imagined your sweet smile, and it made me sad to know I wouldn't see you for a little while. I picked up the frame, and tapped my finger against your nose, just like I do when I hold you and play with you. I love you, Bayleigh.
Since the first time I saw you, when you were but a few days old, you've been my entirety. You've been the reason I smile even when I'm sad, the reason I'm glad to wake up. You're the reason I want to be a better person, the reason I want to improve my life and make help make the world a better place. You're the reason I feel love when no one else is around. You're the reason I smile when I think of what makes me happy.
I'm so proud of you, and how big you're getting. You're almost 11 months old now. It's a shock. It seems like just yesterday, I was holding you, bundled against the cold of that Christmas morning. It seems like just yesterday that I first saw your sweet face. You're so intelligent. I'm so proud.
You've learned to crawl, even though you hated tummy time and would flip over. You're learning to stand, even though the first time I witnessed it, you plopped down, and dropped your head, smiling shyly. You laugh at everything, even the goofy things I do to try to make you happy. You laugh when I take my hair down, and toss it around, like a lion shaking the sleep out of its mind. You're beginning to jabber.
You've got defined tastes in music. Since you were but a wee little bitty thing of about three months, no matter your mood, you've danced/bounced and smiled when Usher came on the radio, singing "Yeah." Since the day I first held you, and saw your big blue eyes, you've had me wrapped around your littlest finger.
I can't wait to watch you grow up, sweetie. You mean the world, and I love you more than words could ever express.
