This weekend, I'll post my pictures from skydiving. But for now, here's my update.
1. I had never been on a plane before this.
2. I could see Pocono Speedway from 7000 ft.
3. There was no time to chicken out.
4. I screamed until the lady with the camera on her helmet basically ran into me.
5. I think I looked down at the ground rushing at me more than I did at the lady.
6. Jumping with a head cold is a no no. *
7. When the tandem guy pulled the chute, that may have been the most painful thing...I can just imagine how much that hurt for the guys. ::gulp::
8. Drifting to the ground would have been really peaceful, if I hadn't been worrying so much about my ears. *
9. I got to steer the chute, but the guy still made me turn around in circles.
10. I got to help land, and when you land, you slide on your butt so you don't hurt your ankles.
11. I was so out of it by the time I hit the ground. I was too focused on my ears. *
* Okay, you're probably all wondering about the cold and ear thing. Apparently, if you jump with a head cold, you run the very high possiblity of bursting your ear drums since there is no where for the pressure to go. I was told if I could breathe through my nose, I was fine. That was bull shit. All the pressure from my cold rushed to my ears when I fell, making my eutacian (sp?) tube swell basically shut. So my ears still haven't really popped yet. I can't hear very well, but the doctor yesterday told me there was no visible damage. Just fluid behind my ears, and the swelling. I'm on steriods now to get the swelling down so I can maybe hear soon. So if you're ever planning on going skydiving, don't do it when you have a cold.
PS. It probably hurt me more by sleeping out in a tent in 30 degree weather. Saturday night, I slept in 3 sweatshirts, a leather jacket, two blankets and a sleeping bag, and I was still freezing my ass off.
