Google the subject heading.
BP & U.S. Govt corruption abound.
Now it is illegal to take water samples from the Deep Water Horizon area.
Gee....I wonder why?
Now lets look at just what comes in from common news sources.
(some history here...)
Just for curiousity lets figure out how much oil actually got spilled.
**
Independent scientists took the videos of the oil spewing out of the well head and did
particle velocity measurements. (they do this often to calculate flow rates from deep underwater 'smokers' (volcanic vents)
If you know the area of the vent in question (easy with a well since it is a circle)
and the velocity of the particles shooting out of it on video you can determine how many cubic ft. per minute are blowing out of the opening.
Taking the measurements is high tech but from there on it's not rocket science.
Ok...at the time the BP/govt. estimates were "oh about 5,000 barrels a day"
Independent measurements with video analysis showed 60,000 -80,000 barrels a day.
A few days later, BP/Govt changes it's tune (caught at a lie were we?) and agreed but later went back to repeating the 5,000 bbl figure,
What's the difference?
Lets do some simple math:
A barrel of oil is 42 gallons.
If I take the middle figure from independent sources, 70,000 barrels a day and multiply that times 85 days. (duration of the spill)
We have 70,000 * 85
5,950,000 barrels
That works out to be
249,900,000 gallons.
(math courtesy of TI-89, it blows up a lot of smaller calculators. )
Now, remember the Exxon Valdez? That was a bit over 10,000,000 gallons.
Add a dash of poisonous chemicals: Corexit EC9500A and Corexit EC9527A
and you have a shake and bake environmental disaster going.
The manufacturer's safety data sheet states "No toxicity studies have been conducted on this product," and later concludes "The potential human hazard is: Low."[20] According to the manufacturer's website, workers applying Corexit should wear breathing protection and work in a ventilated area.
How's that for double-talk bullshit?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corexit So don't let anyone tell you it's overwith/cleaned up. The nightmare is just beginning and
this time there is no escape.
But then, you can trust the government.
