this and that...

These last few days have been kinda fun for me. Nothing big…just little things that has made me happy. For example, my front porch is finally coming along. It looks nice. My house used to be an eye sore. I’d get sick every time I pulled into the drive. Now…it’s one of best looking houses on the block (which wasn’t hard to accomplish).

Let’s see…I was at my wits end with the pool. It had been really cloudy for the last couple of weeks and no matter how much money I literally threw in it, nothing worked. Finally the manager of the pool store was there the other day and gave me stuff that put the sparkle back in the water. It’s a big deal because I was beyond disgusted.

What else…? Oh! Ashley saw this jacket that she really wanted on a film at school. It was some vintage number with patches on it. The vintage clothing store was closed so I ended up in one of my most favorite antique stores that just so happen to have a new vendor moving in that specialized in vintage clothing. Well, Ashley didn’t find her jacket but I found a matching casserole dish for my 1950’s dinner wear *BIG GRIN* aaaand I found the cutest vintage teal and white polka dot dress. It has pleats. It’s sooooo cute. I love it!

And today. I don’t know what I was thinking. Ashley is soooo spoiled. Not really, she never asks for anything but she did want a cool little electric guitar. I told her I’d get it for her for her birthday which is in November. However, it was on sale today so I bought it for her. It’s a pink retro looking number. I can’t believe she picked pink. Ashley is the skull and crossbones kinda girl. I’d say she is “goth light” lol.

Very light…as I’m in the process of painting her room fushia and lime green. I told her it looked like her room was slimed. She loves it though, that’s all that matters.

And speaking of paint. I decided that I needed a more summery color for my living room since it’s brown and beige. I painted the beige wall a really light green…it’s okay. I don’t love it but I had a décor to work within. I think this winter I’m going to change out the main colors to a burnt orange instead of the burgundy. I’m sick of that color. Plus, I think it would match more with my furniture pieces. They’re all mid century (can you tell I really love mid century things?).

Anyway, after Ashley’s room, the front bath is next. I’ve already bought the light fixture. My little brother thinks I’m nuts for deciding to paint the wall with the mirror red. I dunno. Maybe I’ll go with another color but my shower curtain is black and white and I want a bright color in there to offset it.

OH! and Lowe's is having one hell of a great sale on curtains if anyone is interested. I've bought more curtains than I know what to do with! I couldn't help it. They're marked down from $30+ a panel to $7!

That’s it. Nothing fantastic but I’ve been having a decent week. Jeff's very happy about that as I told him that he could keep the rent check from the house in NC and do with it as he pleases. He deserves it.

Anyway, maybe I’ll post some pictures of all i've been up to one day soon. J
