Just a SPN Drabble

Note: This drabble was actually from a dream I had earlier this summer and just now deciding to share since I'm doing nothing with it. - Sharys

“Is it over?” the voice is gruff, weary, and ever so slightly hopeful. I turn to look up the street and there’s Cas, in white hospital scrubs and a dirty trenchcoat. There’s a light mist of blood on his coat.

He stumbles sideways against a parked car.

“Cas!” I rush forward, grabbing a fistful of sleeve and hauling it over my shoulder. My other arm slings around his torso, more to prove to myself that he’s here, that he’s alive, than to steady him.

He leans on me and I grit my teeth at the weight, and slowly the two of us start moving down the street. Together we’re going home.

“Is it over?” he asks again, more desperately. A whisper.

I bite my lip and nod, thinking of the others we lost. “Yeah. Yeah it’s over. For now.”

“I’m sorry that I-that I couldn’t-”

“Hey. Hey, hey, hey, it’s okay. I’M okay. It’s not your fault, alright? You didn’t do this.”

He tightened the arm around my shoulder and drew me to him. He hugged me tightly, other arm wrapping around me as well. I could hear him breathe harshly into my hair as he rested his cheek there. The weight was warm, comforting, proof that we were both alive. “I’m glad you made it. I . . .”

I fought the tears as I gripped him back harder. “Yeah, me too. Lets go find the others, ‘kay?”

Let’s go home.
