Anime Banzai 2012
Banzai this year was a freakin' BLAST. The guests, my peeps, the staff - everything. Chris Patton has always been one of my favorite voice actors, and I'm so glad he was able to come to Utah! His 18+ panel was probably the funniest thing to ever happen. And the fog machine at the hotel bar going off and we had to evacuate! It went off twice more. Zach and I told Chris he was too hot and sharing too much! His boyfriend Richard had a panel about Japan and is all for helping Zach and I plan our trip in February. They ended up going to Lagoon and it was so adorable how excited Chris was to go and come back and just squee about how fun it was.
David is so chill and amazing. Every time Zach and I would talk to him he was very attentive to what you said and so very willing to give you advice on anything.
I want Micah to be my friend. He hates Rose and so do I! He's so incredibly nerdy and I just want to hang out and complain about DC and fanboy/girl about everything! Zach is also determined to be his friend so he has one when we move to Dallas. (Yes, this is looking likely). He had the best reaction to Zach's question of Avengers or Dark Knight Rises - He dropped the mic and just stared at Zach: "What is happiness?"
And Warky is just Warky and is wonderful to hang out with like always.
Amanda and L.B. are cool peeps. Going to keep in contact with them. Amanda and I are going to flail about figures and Steins;Gate and Tiger & Bunny forever!
We had the privilege to go to the guest dinner not once, but twice! Normally we go one night and just end up talking to staff since they invite us, while the guests talk amongst themselves. But this year the guests talked to us. We even had a missionary moment and explained to them various things about Mormonism. On Saturday night we just barely missed them heading over to Olive Garden and Trish (guest relation) called us up and was like "Oh, we're already over here. GET OVER HERE!" So we did. And had another night of hilarity. We ordered a strawberry mango lemonade that looked suspiciously alcoholic, so Chris was like "Zaaaaach, what is that? *disappoint face*" "It's lemonade, I swear D:!"
I cosplayed Fluttershy on Saturday with Brin's sister Adara as my Pinkie Pie and holy crap she gives cavities! (she's the Pinkie Pie in the photos on the site) Had a few photo-ops. Some dude said I was the best pony. A Big Macintosh kept giving me apples every time I walked by, but apparently he only gave apples to pony cosplayers.
Sunday I was Ringo, and I was mistaken for Fluttershy multiple times. Kinda knew that would happen. BUT, I had three people actually know who I was and they seriously flipped out! Uta no Prince Sama fans unite!! Sadly, the photos I have of myself Simon took and those are linked on the blog.
Banzai has a contract to be at the Davis Conference Center for another three years. That's great except that at this rate of growth we will out grow it! We'll see how this goes next year o-o Friday they broke the previous years total weekend attendance!
Continually Banzai keeps surprising me with its progression. There's still some bumps, but the fact that they are always improving impresses me and this year was the best to date. Everything ran so smoothly.
All the guests said that they loved being our show. The Geek Show from X-96 is paid to be there and do interviews, but all they do is be rude and purposefully mess up their names and not even care about them. Apparently Micah's interview is the only one to make the cut on their site o_o All the guests thanked us for being polite and letting them have fun.
