Movie post of viewings

I bought Megamind on Friday and watched it with my family and Zach once he came over. Saturday morning Zach and I drove to Jordan Commons to see the Yu-Gi-Oh! Movie in 3D!!! I love YGO, but the movie was better than I was anticipating. I could have done without the 3D, though... it made their crazier hair distort their heads like whoa. And I love how GX never finished airing here, so Jaden/Judai's involvement was confusing, even though he's the loudest of the three MC's. More than anything, it was a 5D's movie with special appearances by Yugi/Yami and Jaden, but still enjoyable and will likely buy when it comes out.

Best part was going and being a geek with the others, but not really looking like geeks. 90% of the people in there were very stereotypical nerds. Guy behind us laughed at everything and sung along with the credit songs, and kid next to us didn't stop eating XD When we went in to the theater, the ticket takers looked at Zach and I like "Y-you're seeing this movie? o.o But you're so not geeky looking." I told Zach he was my favorite person cause he was going with me. Turns out he liked it and is now interested in watching more Yugioh! SUCCESS!! But seriously, total preparing for Fannatiku next weekend XD

We checked movie times and drove towards home to the Cinemark and got tickets for I Am Number Four... it was like watching Sci-fi Twilight. aka BAD! It had an okay start... and then just didn't get any better. I spent most of the movie wondering why a lot of things were happening, and it was never explained. Just poor execution, in general. We looked up the book synopsis, and apparently the movie was a very poor representation. When the credits rolled and we saw Michael Bay, we went "Oh! That's why." But yes, The Yugioh movie was BETTER than I Am Number Four.

Stopped by a friend's wedding reception and came back to my place and watched Secretariat, which was a good movie and helped heal from bad movie, funk XD

I don't think I mentioned my Zach times from last weekend... Well, we went Lazer Tagging on a triple date. The girls unintentionally banded together against the guys and we won \O/ They demand a rematch! Oh those boys and their bruised pride.

Then last Saturday we spent the day at Melissa's watching Durarararara!! And Ponies. Have I mentioned that I've been watching My Little Ponies: Friendship is Magic? Well, now I have, and I love it!

I saw the most movies this year than any other. Two of them were even up for Best Picture which, like NEVER happens!

Disappointments and surprises abound!

I'm pleased for what Inception did walk away with. I knew it wasn't going to win Best Picture, but I was very angry with Inception not winning Best Score. If Inception wasn't going to take it, I wanted How to Train Your Dragon, to. But no, Social Network did, which is stupid... a non-epic movie gets best music. Right. Inception well deserved Best Visuals, however I'm surprised Tron wasn't in the running for this. Only recognition was in Sound Editing (Mixing, too), of which Inception grabbed as well. Cinematography... so much yesness in this. Gaaaaaaaah, need to watch Inception again.

I wasn't expecting "We Belong Together" from Toy Story 3 to win Best Song. Cute song, probably one of Randy Newman's best, but I wanted "I See the Light" from Tangled to win as Mandy and Zachary did a wonderful performance on stage of it.

Biggest surprise for me was the two wins for Alice in Wonderland. Gorgeous film, very Oscar Nominee worthy, I just wasn't expecting it to win anything. It walked away with Costume Design and Art Direction.

Toy Story 3, obviously, won Best Animated Film. If it won Best Picture, Best Animated should go to How to Train Your Dragon. Why wasn't Tangled in the running for this? o.O

I really want to see a lot of the animated shorts and foreign films they showed.

Random celeb thoughts: Seriously James Franco, you couldn't remember what got Best Picture after it being announced two minute ago? What was his issue last night? Probably on something, no doubt. Anne Hathaway is so fun as host! Jeff Bridges moved all the Best Actresses to tears as he presented them. Christian Bale looked like trailer trash with the clashing of his red beard and dark brown hair X_x Was good to see Billy Crystal. I love Sandra Bullock.
