trip to the Great Excape in Queensbury

This long weekend we went to Six Flags in Queensbury. The package was expensive - about $300 per night. I didn’t want to pay this amount for the 3 star’s hotel with the indoor water park in the American nowhere. However, it was part of the networking as well as socializing event, since we went with my husband’s former co-worker and now a hiring manager. She invited us and I paid …. The hotel was right beside the local theme park “Six Flags”. The theme park was very similar to Wonderland but with no lineups. My 2 year old tried every ride for a small kid. I didn’t expect that she would enjoy it this much. She was screaming when were leaving the park. My 13 year old loved it as well. Go there if you like rides… I actually enjoyed it as well.

About the city…. I have never seen so many obese people in my life. Actually, after this trip recent lawsuit to the American airlines regarding too small seats looked pretty reasonable for me. Obese people were everywhere, with so many of them, that they “ate” the right to be accommodated. It is tough not to become obese person in America, you have to be born with the extreme tolerance to fat staff otherwise you are doomed. Greasy food is cheap and abundant. Regular breakfast in the chain restaurant consist of eggs, beacon or sausages, English muffin or French toast. All this get served with huge piece of butter. In Subway, there were no soups, only chips with sandwiches. Salads were rare as well.

Everything was very fattening, but tasty … . They also server good beer and wine in chain restaurants. That was a pleasant surprise… .

Shopping …. I didn’t find that clothes are so much cheaper there. In local outlet stores - Gap, Banana Republic, the selection was from the previous year … prices are about 30% lower. I bought 1 skirt and 1 short. However, Anton found good deals in the EddieBauer outlet.
