(Nikki- this was for one of your comments, but it was too long so I'll write it as my own entry...)
At our age, everyone changes. It's high school, of course! From the little kids to the upper classmen. I think it should be written in stone. Change is just a fact during adolecence. Kids want to rebel, but not necessarily to piss their parents off or anything. Most grandview kids have decent families. They just want to change their boring life. They're not into walking around grandview and doing the same exact thing every night. They want a bit of excitement or relaxation or any new feeling they can gain through a substance.
Im not really against it anymore. I'm not gonna tell anyone NOT to do it, except for the ones I'm truly scared for. (I'll always bitch about smoking cigarettes though, just because people don't have the manners to get the 2nd hand smoke away from me!!!)But this doesn't make me a user.... I'm far from it!!! I've broken my straight edge rules, but technically it doesn't even apply to be yet UNTIL I'm legal.
My closest friends are already doing more serious drugs. I'm not stopping them YET, just because I'm praying that they'll figure out this is not the thing to do.... If they're smart enough, they'll know when it is too much, they've gone too far, and they gotta stop. But I'd say usually it's a passing phase....
So I guess this is just my opinion, but what I'm saying is, you really can't change anyone no matter how hard you try.
I'm personally proud of the decisions I've made when it comes to drugs. I've gotten peer pressured more times than I can count on my hands, so fake-feeling that it's like I'm the main character of those corny Health Class movies. I'm not saying I'm an innocent virgin angel, either, though.... But if you FIRST think about what you want to do, the pros and cons, and ponder it all out before you make any decisions (or others making the decision for you!) at ALL that will change your lifestyle, you will turn out just fine.
(The funny thing is though, I have more fun with my hardcore straight edge friends than any of the stoner friends I have... haha!)
