Continuing Saga of Andy and His Boys

James happily handed off the bartender to the uniforms. He wanted to get away from that bar as fast as possible. He also wanted to take as many showers as he could stand to get the brunette's scent off of him ( Read more... )

“Why do you want to stay,” Andrej asked.

James pressed his lips together and tried not to open his mouth until he was certain nothing stupid would come out. “I thought the answer to that was obvious.”

Andrej closed his eyes and sighed. Opening his eyes and fixing his gaze on James, he tried again. “That is not what I meant. I am not so completely inexperienced that I do not get your meaning.”

“Then why ask the question,” James asked.

“I want to know your motivation,” Andrej said, leaning back into his chair. Scratch the beer, he was going to need something much stronger if James kept this up. “Is it for the sake of sex alone or is it something more?”

James leaned an elbow on the table, resting his cheek against the palm of his hand.

Looking away, Andrej added, “While I am not opposed to sex for the sake of sex, it is not what I am looking for right now either.” He caught James staring at him. “I am not looking for a husband either, if that is what is worrying you.”

“I’m not worried,” James assured him.

“Your face says otherwise, Jay.” Andrej stood and gathered their plates. “Do you want pie or would you rather go home?”

“What I want is you,” James said, standing and putting a hand on Andrej’s arm. “I like you and I want to spend as much time together as possible. Is that a good enough motivation to pass your test?”

Andrej jerked his arm away. “It is not a test,” he growled. “It is me, trying not to get my hopes up over something that will never be.” He gave James a look. “I thought that was obvious, too, Jay.” He shook his head and went inside.

“Well hell,” James sighed. “I fucked that up, didn’t I?” He followed Andrej into the house and cornered him in the kitchen. “I’m sorry, Andy,” he said. “Really. I didn’t mean to hurt you and I definitely didn’t mean to piss you off. Can we start over?”

Andrej glared at him for a moment before sighing. “No,” he said, a second before he wrapped his arms around James’ neck and pulled him into a kiss. “No, we cannot start over, Jay. It is too late for that.”

James looped an arm around Andrej’s waist in response, pressing their bodies together. “Well, then if we can’t go back, then we might as well go forward.”

James pulled Andy into a deep kiss which was something he had been wanting to do ever since he met him.

Andy broke it off after several moments, so they could catch their breaths.

"May we take this some place a little more conducive for this activity?" James inquired as he rested his forehead against Andy's. He wasn't going to push Andy into doing something he wasn't interested in or comfortable doing.

"Yes," Andy answered before slipping out of James' embrace, catching hold of his hand and leading him down the hall to his bedroom.

(Is Andy afraid that Jay only wants him for sex?)

“Are you sure about this,” James asked, hesitating at the threshold.

Andrej tilted his head and considered James. “After all of that talk in the living room, you are now changing your mind?”

“Hell no,” James laughed. “But I wanted to be certain that you were sure.”

“I do not say yes unless I am positive,” Andrej said, giving James an encouraging smile. “I am positive.”

“And your partner?”

“He does not have a say in this.”

James laughed. “No, I never thought he did, but he has a way of showing up at the most awkward moments.”

“He does,” Andrej agreed. “However, Zayne is with Hilary tonight and, unless they have a fight, he will not come over until tomorrow.”

“How likely is it that they’ll fight.”

Andrej sighed. “Too likely, but we will not think about that right now.”

“You’re not concerned he’ll catch us together?”

He thought about Eli and chuckled. “No, I am not afraid of that any longer.”

James brushed Andrej’s hair out of his eyes. “There’s a story there. Remind me to have you tell me what it is later.”

“That,” Andrej said, tugging on James’ hand, “is not something I am as sure about. But we can discuss it later.”

(No, definitely not. He’s just being his usual, overly cautious self.)

James let Andy pull him into his bedroom and to the foot of the neatly made bed before he reeled him in for another breath stealing kiss.

Hands became busy and soon clothes fell to the floor, and before they knew it they were making a mess of Andy's neatly made bed.

(Not sure how graphic you want to go, so I left room for a fade to black.)

Andrej collapsed onto James’ chest, panting. He rested his face against James’ naked shoulder, trying to catch his breath. James ran a hand up Andrej’s back, sending a shiver through Andrej’s body.

“You okay, Andy,” James asked, ruffling his fingers through Andrej’s dark hair.

“Yes,” Andrej breathed, snuggling into James’ body. “I am wonderful.”

James grinned. “So happy to hear it.”

Turning his head, Andrej looked at James. “Oh, you are joking.”

“No, I’m not joking,” he said, wrapping Andrej in a tight hug. “I was being silly, but I definitely am not joking about being happy that I could make you feel good.”

“Oh,” he said again, a smile coming to his face. “I am happy you are happy.”

“I am ecstatic just being here with you,” he said.

“I feel the same,” Andrej agreed, draping an arm across James’ middle. “Thank you for staying.”

James kissed the top of Andrej’s head. “Thank you for letting me.”

Andrej sighed and relaxed into the warmth of James’ body heat. The night had turned out better than he’d expected and it looked like tomorrow morning would be even better.

(I was wondering yesterday how you’d feel if I skipped it, but wound up not taking it that far. Just not feeling the graphic bits right now. Maybe tomorrow. LOL)

(No worries. My muse is being bashful at the moment so graphic bits can wait til tomorrow....lol)

James woke to Andy watching him sleep. He smiled and asked, "See something you like?"

"Yes, I do," Andy answered with a shy smile.

"Good," James murmured before reaching up and pulling Andy into a kiss.

(My muse is exhausted, so yes, tomorrow.)

Letting himself melt into the kiss, Andrej was startled when his phone rang.

“Shit,” James laughed. “I knew that was going to happen.”

“Better this morning than last night,” he said, rolling over to grab his phone off the nightstand. He checked the caller ID and frowned. “It is Zayne.”

“I figured,” James said. “Only your partner calls this early in the morning. I’ll go,” he said, making a motion towards the door.

“Don’t leave,” he begged, before answering his phone. “Zeklos.”

“I won’t,” James mouthed, then mimed drinking coffee.

Andrej smiled and nodded. Coffee was exactly what he needed. “Good morning, Zayne. Why are you calling so early?”

(And now I have to drag my ass to the grocery store so I can feed my family later.)

"Morning, Zek," Zayne replied. "You and narco have a good date?"

"Yes, we did," Andy said with a smile in his voice.

"Is it safe for me to come over?"

"Maybe."

"Maybe?" Zayne whined. "Is he still there?"

"He is still here," Andy confirmed.

(I drug my ass to work and I'm still wondering why....lol)

“Yeah, I can see his car in your driveway.”

“What,” Andrej asked. “Never mind, Zayne, I should have known.”

“Yeah, sorry,” he said with a self-deprecating laugh. “I didn’t mean to drive by your place but I was leaving Hil’s and I was starving…”

“And you were hoping for a breakfast sandwich from the place down the road.”

“Am I that predictable,” Zayne asked.

“Only when food is involved,” Andrej laughed.

“So, can I come by?”

“If you bring breakfast,” he said, meeting James’ curious gaze as he entered the kitchen.

“I can do that,” Zayne said. “Bacon or sausage for the narco?”

Andrej frowned. “Bacon or sausage, Jay?”

“Ham? Canadian bacon?”

“Tell him they’ve got that and I’ll be there in ten minutes. You got coffee going?”

He looked at the coffee pot. “I have coffee brewing, Zayne.”

“Beautiful,” he said. “See you in ten.”

“Breakfast company,” James asked.

“Breakfast company,” Andrej confirmed. “However, he is bringing us all food, so this is a silver lining.”

(Ugh, I feel you on that, every single day.)

"Well, I still owe you breakfast in bed," James said as he accepted a cup of coffee from Andy.

"I will hold you to that," Andy said with a smile.

James nodded in agreement and then groaned when heard Zayne's truck pull into the driveway. "I better go get decent," he joked with a wry grin. He had only grabbed his boxers when he had gotten up.

"Might be a good idea," Andy agreed since he had out of self-preservation slipped on and belted his bathrobe.

Zayne opened the door and hollered, "Y'all decent?" before stepping inside.

"For the most part," James hollered back and slipped down the hall to the master bedroom.

"I don't want to know what he means by that," Zayne quipped as he kept his eyes focused on the floor as he made his way to the kitchen.

"You can look up," Andy said with a shake of his head. "And Jay meant that we weren't naked and engaged in sex."

"Right, okay," Zayne drawled as he finally looked up. "Not touching that."

"Coffee?" Andy offered thus changing the subject.

"Yes, please," Zayne said. He set the bag of food he was carrying on the kitchen table.

Andrej handed Zayne coffee in his favorite mug - one that Trish had given him years ago. “I did not fill it all the way,” he said, nodding towards the mug large enough to hold half a pot of coffee.

“It’s all good,” Zayne said, taking the drink. “I’m not sure I could handle that much caffeine before food.”

“Speaking of food,” Andrej said, turning to grab plates out of the cupboard. “Sit,” he said, setting each plate on the countertop and distributing the food between them.

“Damn, that smells good,” James said, returning from the bedroom in the clothes he’d been wearing the day before.

“Best breakfast sandwich you’ll get in town,” Zayne said, taking the plate Andrej offered him. Smirking, he lifted his chin in James’ direction. “You are going home to change, aren’t you?”

James looked down at his rumpled clothes and chuckled. “Yeah, because if I don’t, there will be hell to pay.”

“I would offer some of my clothes, Jay, but they will not fit.” While they were both tall and slender, James was narrower in the shoulders.

“I have clothes here, but you’d probably swim in them,” Zayne said, biting into his sandwich.

“Even if they would fit,” James said, unwrapping his sandwich and inhaling deeply, “there’s no way I’d show up in your clothes.”

“Yeah,” he snorted. “Gotta admit, that’d open us up to more than a little rumor mongering. Oh well. Eat, then run home. Promise not to out you to Hansen if we see him.”

“I appreciate that, cowboy,” James said. “God, this tastes even better than it smells.”

“Told you,” Zayne grinned. He looked at Andrej. “Yours is just egg and cheese. Although, Joey said he’d look into some of that shit - what did he call it? Benevolent bacon? It’s meatless but he says it’s really good. Let me know if you’re interested so I can tell him.”

“Thank you, Zayne, I will think about it.”

“Ugh,” James groaned, tossing the last bite of hash brown into his mouth. “I guess I need to go.”

Andrej frowned.

“Don’t look now,” Zayne said, “but I think for the first time in his life, he’s thinking about playing hooky.”

James laughed. “I’ll see you later, I promise.”

Andrej shook his head. “Be safe, Jay.”

“Always,” he said, kissing Andrej’s cheek.

“What, I don’t get a goodbye kiss,” Zayne joked. “I’m hurt.”

“Oh, shut the hell up,” James chuckled. Leaning over, he kissed the top of Zayne’s head. “Better?”

“Of course,” Zayne grinned.

“Why me,” Andrej muttered in Romanian. “Why?”

(My veg-head daughter buys these breakfast sandwiches with the benevolent bacon on them and I swear to god, it smells just like the real thing.)

"Because you're very loveable, Zek," Zayne answered with a knowing grin.

Andy sighed in resignation.

"He's right," James told Andy before brushing another kiss against his cheek. "I'll see you later."

Zayne smirked into his breakfast as he tried not to watch James walk out the door.

Andy wanted to remind Zayne that James was his, but it was too early in the day to have that kind of a conversation.

(Some of the vegan food smells better than the real deal. Doesn't taste awful like we are led to believe either. I got a friend who is more vegan than vegeterian.)

“So, it’s serious then,” Zayne asked as soon as he heard the door close behind James.

Andrej shrugged. He wasn’t sure how to classify it yet. As much as he wanted it to be serious, they hadn’t said the words to make it that way. “I do not know.”
Zayne glanced in the direction of the front door. “Okay, now I’m confused. You’re not into casual sex, it goes against every fiber of your being, so if this isn’t serious, did the body snatchers visit your house last night?”

“It was not casual, Zayne,” Andrej said, putting his plate in the sink and running water. “I know him and I like him,” he said. “I like him a lot, honestly.”

“But?”

“But there has been no talk of being boyfriends,” he said, sounding sadder than he’d intended.

“But he’s over here every chance he gets,” Zayne pointed out. “I’m thinking that means he wants to be your boyfriend.”

Andrej laughed. “You are also on my doorstep every chance you get,” he reminded Zayne. “Does that mean you want to be my boyfriend, too?”

“Aren’t I already,” Zayne said, offhandedly. “Hil swears there’s something going on here and Trish thinks we’re hooking up. So,” he shrugged.

“Hooking up? I do not understand."

Zayne met his eyes. “She thinks we’re sleeping together,” he explained. “Hil knows better, but that doesn’t keep her from teasing me. She even said that, if I were to leave her for anyone, you’d be the one person she wouldn’t be angry about.”

“I do not know what to say about that,” he admitted.

“Neither did I at first,” Zayne said. “Now, I just tell them you send your love and leave it at that.”

“I cannot handle this right now.”

“You can’t ever handle this, baby,” Zayne said. “But it’s okay. Guys aren’t really my thing, but I could see me dating you.”

“I need a shower,” Andrej announced, worried for the turn this conversation seemed to be taking.

Zayne’s smile faltered a bit. “Sorry, that was too much, huh?” He shook his head. “Go wash the gingerbread off of you and I’ll meet you at the station.”

“Thank you, Zayne,” Andrej said, relieved.

“Anytime, Zek.” Zayne ruffled Andrej’s hair. “I love this ‘just rolled out of bed’ look on you. You’re too proper and put together during the day. This is a nice change.”

“Zayne,” Andrej groaned.

“Sorry,” he said, holding both hands up. “I’ll see you at work.”

(I’m telling you… my kid isn’t totally vegan yet - mainly because I’m buying her food still - but some of the stuff she’s bought is good. So much better than even 10 years ago.)

(At the rate this is going, I'm going to need a new 'hot mess' icon - one with Andy's face on it.)

(Poor Andy. He's gonna be a hot mess if they keep messing with him like they are...lol)

Andy showered and put on casual clothes instead of his normal suit. He felt a little rebelous since Zayne had basically called him predictable.

He quickly finished getting ready for work.

*&*

Andy arrived at work and wasn't surprised to encounter James on the front steps of the station.

"Waiting for me?" he softly asked hoping he sounded like he was teasing and not interogating the ginger.

"Nah," James replied. "I just got here myself. Casual is a good look for you."

Andy ducked his head as he felt a blush creep into his cheeks. "Thank you."

"Let me guess the cowboy teased you after I left and you decided to give him something besides us spending the night together to talk about," James guessed as they entered the station together.

"He may have mention that he liked my rolled out of bed look since apparently I'm too proper and put together during the day, so I decided to be rebelous and dress casual," Andy explained.

"You are such a wild child," James teased with a wicked grin.

Andy rolled his eyes at him.

"Okay, I'll remember not to try and pigeon hole you," James said.

"Pigeon hole?"

"It means to put someone or thing in a single category because of how they are preceived," James immediately explained.

Andy nodded not certain he understood, but grateful James gave him an explanation of the phrase.

"Will I see you later for lunch?" James asked before letting Andy climb the stairs to Homicide division.

"Maybe, if we don't get pick up a case between now and then," Andy answered.

"Alright," James said with a soft sigh. "I'll text you later and see what's up."

"Okay," Andy said. "Be careful and stay safe."

"Always the plan," James said before brushing a quick kiss against Andy's cheek and heading off to his desk.

Andy smiled and headed up the stairs to his desk and his nosey partner.

(Sorry for deleting my comment. I lost the kitten this morning and was distracted… didn’t see your edit. *sigh*)

“And here I was beginning to think you weren’t going to show,” Zayne said. Doing a double-take, he grinned. “Nice duds, baby. What’s the occasion?”

“You,” he said. “And your constant teasing. Is this less predictable for your tastes?”

“Zek, you don’t have to do anything that you don’t want to do,” he said. “But yeah, I like it.”

“Seconded,” Trish added.

“I’d third this, but I feel like that would be going into weird territory,” Hilary laughed. “Sometimes comfort beats everything.”

“This is so true,” Trish agreed.

“You’re missing one thing,” Zayne said.

“What is that,” Andrej asked, not sure what he could have missed.

“You need a pair of boots.”

“I - I think I will wait on that,” Andrej said. Although, heaven only knew he wanted a pair just like Zayne’s.

“Fair enough,” Zayne said. “Ready to work? We have a scene to check out.”
“Homicide?”

“Not sure yet, which is why we have to go check it out,” Zayne teased. “Ready?”

“Always.”

"Since the body was found at a construction site, I figured it would be better to take my old girl than your car," Zayne suggested as they stepped into the station's parking lot.

"Alright," Andy agreed. He didn't mind riding in Zayne's truck. He had ridden in worst looking vehicles as a youth.

"Maybe you should let the narco stay over more often," Zayne teased as he slid into his old truck.

"I'm going to regret asking this," Andy muttered as he slid into the passenger seat. "But why do you say that?"

"Because like I said earlier, he makes you happy. And, I'm for anything or anyone that will make you happy because you have been rather sad of late."

(I didn't see it, so no worries. Did you find the kitten?)
