Ficcish thing: Conversations revisited

Sep 17, 2004 00:11

A couple of months ago I wrote a story, Conversations with dead people: five things that could've happened to Jason Todd. And ever since then, I've wanted to write more in the different what-ifs I made up. Which is maybe more than a little self-indulgent, but there you go ( Read more... )

This is why I keep writing about him: I hurt him terribly and then he haunts me and so I write more fic... in which I invariably hurt him even more, and so he haunts me more, and it's a vicious cycle. With pixie boots.

*clings to belief that pre-Crisis Jason is still cheerfully swinging around some Gotham somewhere, being cheerful and so very, very gay for Bruce*

*does not think about DKR*

You know I love you, don't you? You may be uncomfortable with the love of a total stranger from the other side of the world but that's a burden you're just going to have to bear. So deal.

Interesting that while the original Conversations were about Jason (well, duh!), the codas are more about the other people in the various Jasons' lives.

So, who are the kids in the Death coda?

*salutes* Shall commence dealing with love of total stranger now, ma'am.

The kids in the Death coda are Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine, two murder victims from the Sandman series who collectively form the Dead Boy Detectives. They've been in a couple of Vertigo minis, and their constant worry is that Death's going to show up and take them away.

there's this quote by Robert Altman that's fairly long but ends with, "What is an ending? There's no such thing as an ending. Death is the only ending."

And I just. You totally proved him wrong, man, because, oh, *Jay*. *whimpers* These are so wonderful. So, so, so wonderful. Thank you.
