The Best Part of the New Testament

Jan 22, 2012 00:40

Every now and then, I read the bible. Not as a true believer, but as a constant seeker and as (in a minimal, unprofessional way) a scholar. I recently downloaded the New Testament to my kindle. I chose the King James 2009 version because the totally "free" versions seemed to come with an agenda and a dubious translation (not that every translation isn't dubious).

This was what I found at the preface, and I was blown away:

This book is a product of its time and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written today. Parents might wish to discuss with their children how views on race, gender, sexuality , ethnicity and interpersonal relations have changed since this book was written before allowing them to read this classic work.

HELLO??? YES!!! GOOD FOR THEM!!! That is all I have to say.... (well, that and that my kittens - all over the computer nao - are SOOOOOOO kyooooooooot.)
