Wow. That IS aggravating. On the plus side, there's the three-year vacation from it. On the other hand, cleaning the bathroom. Yikes. On a side note, my FB profile has me listed as Secular Christian. When people ask me what that means, I say that the current state of Christianity in America tends to focus way too much on who Jesus was and not what he was all about (that whole forgiveness/do unto others stuff). I think the philosophy is pretty good. The supernatural yah-yah/church as country club BS I can do without.

At any rate have a great rest of the day. Go getcha some more manga and hole up for a bit.

Sounds like the Christian version of the Jewish community with whom I've been worshiping on the High Holy Days (and sometimes other times) for the past few years - Rabbi says they practice "Just Judaism." It's about social justice and it's not any of the usual formal denominations ... you know, it's just Judaism.

They both sound rational and good. If you remove the mania and the dogma and the "stone throwing" from most religions, the root philosophy is generally a pretty nice one. But there is just about nothing that humans, en mass, can't mess up!!

hence why I call my faith "Universal Belief" in other words, we study all the religious info we can get our grubby little hands on and talk to as many people from as many religions as we can and we take the universal good out of it and that's what we believe. There's a lot more to it than that, but it boils it down pretty well.

I generally say I like Christianity and dislike Christians. I have met some who really practice what they preach (and spend more time practicing than preaching) but they are few and far between... Mostly they have been sanctimonious, judgmental, unkind, and unintelligent twats.

my favorite prayer "dear Lord, protect me from your followers."

I am fortunate to have a few friends who are "live my example" Christians, whom I can sit down and have an intelligent conversation about our disparate beliefs and other beliefs as well without getting upset, feeling infringed upon and we both walk away with things to think about and feeling enlightened.
