Forgot to put these two here for my own record/the sake of having them here.

Title: Someone's in the Wolf
Author: sharpeandshiny
Word Count: 400
Pairing: None
Rating: PG..ish? Come on, it's about serial killers.
Summary: Dexter goes shopping, and finds an interesting addition to his knife collection.
Disclaimer: Dexter is not mine, he's Jeff Lindsay's. Also, the title is a Queens of the Stone Age song. Lastly, Sam's Club and the Dexter Russell knives are obviously not of my own invention.
Author's Notes: I just thought it was amusing that this brand actually exists.
(theme: "knife")
Dexter loves Sam’s Club as much as he can love anything, really. It’s a concrete-floored megastore with every category for every need imaginable, and it’s wonderfully organized in rays of aisles that stretch on forever into fluorescent-light horizons.
Dexter can also watch people mill around and go through their shopping rituals. It’s kind of like how he enjoys standing in line, so he can watch people be themselves. He mills right along with them, weaving at a leisurely pace through the frozen food isles, picking up steaks in the meat section, depositing vegetables in his shopping cart, masterfully choosing a box of rice.
Dexter also loves knives as much as he can love anything. This is why he makes his way over to a product presentation table with a wide array of shiny kitchen tools. There is a crowd of spectators, and Dexter is of the opinion that this is the perfect opportunity to take a peek at the man selling the knives. The Masked Avenger will not stand out in the middle of Sam’s Club with his day mask on, surrounded by all of these civilians.
The salesman is speaking, loudly, “DEXTER knives, the best kitchenware you’ll ever use, sharper than anything you’ve ever sliced with-you’ll never need another knife again!”
Dexter is nearly caught off guard by his future playmate shouting his name, and then takes a look at the blades, remembering the brand of the kitchenware: Dexter-Russell. They are of decent caliber, enough to appeal to his discerning eye.
The man is almost shouting evangelically now about how the knives will cut through anything. Dexter, slightly amused, thinks to himself that they would indeed cut through the salesman’s arms. With a little hard work, that is.
Then a funny little thought comes to our dear old boy as the people around him wave handfuls of twenties at the man behind the presentation table. Dexter looks at him, and knows, deep down in his serial killer’s instinct, that this sales representative is a bad man who masquerades as a Dexter-Russell employee.
Dexter pulls some cash out of his own pocket, pays for a stainless steel heading knife, and decides that it would be nice if he brought this new toy to his play date.
He determines on his quiet drive home that this evening would be perfect.
Tonight is the night. And it will happen again.
Title: Absolut, Neat
Author: sharpeandshiny
Word Count: 200
Pairing: None
Rating: PG, I ..think.
Summary: Dexter is made up entirely of deceit.
Disclaimer: Dexter is not mine, he's Jeff Lindsay's. I just play around with him for fun from time to time.
Author's Notes: The title is actually a phrase meant to be used for ordering straight vodka with no ice (in this case, it means a specific brand). This references the "rough night" line that shows up later on.
(theme: lies>
Dexter’s life is built on a solid foundation of lies.
He lives this way because he has been taught, since he was very little, that lying is the only way he will ever survive. Dexter knows this so well because Harry had told him, repeatedly:
“For every situation, there is always a normal person’s reaction. You are going to learn every single one of them.”
And so for the rest of his days, Dexter will be lying to everyone around him. Even Deb, his foster sister, cannot see a millimeter beyond the façade that he has so artfully created.
These complex lies help Dexter to survive in the world by hiding from those who would want to find him, and by obscuring him from those he wants to find.
Amongst the most dangerous predators are the ones that can conceal themselves from their prey. Dexter is as much of a threat as he is because he can rear up, press himself straight against the glass and look his quarry dead in the eye.
Had a rough night? A deadly little smile filled with camaraderie.
They never have a clue.
Dexter is a spider that creeps along a web of lies.
