All righty. Let me first say that I enjoyed this ep a bit. How, you ask? Because I no longer see the show as the thoughtful drama it was. Now it's a comedy. We're obviously expected to laugh at the slapstick so...*shrugs*.
The night before, Fox aired a season one ep "Control," and it showed House in all his glory (okay, not all--if there had been a nude scene we would have been all over it). *Clears throat* Where was I? Oh, yeah, season one. In this ep, House cared and lied to save a patient. The determination to find out what was wrong and force the patient to convince him that she was worth lying for--sheer genius, because I feel he really wanted her to understand she was worth saving.
And then we have last night. Where the magician and House traded quips and tricks, one to find out how the magic was done, the other to preserve it. And it was fun stuff. No depth, but fun. And FINALLY--it was Lupus!! LOL
Did TPTB think that the focus on 13 would have been diluted if one second of screen time had been afforded to Cameron? Yep, thought so too. 13 is a weak version of Cameron and a coward besides. Never mind that the writers are recycling situations--sigh. First, the whole secret thing. House figured it out WEEKS before he figured out Cameron's secret (which made Cameron more interesting and complex since it took him that long). Then, 13's behavior, which was to toss out the results without looking at it and, more importantly, House throwing it out without looking as well spoke VOLUMES to me.
First, that 13 is a coward. Cameron had the courage to look at her results.
House tossed 13's results. House read Cameron's results the moment that envelope crossed his desk.
After I just wrote my fic based on "Informed Consent," from season 3, the actions of House a bare season ago is fresh in my mind. And at NO TIME would House allow Cameron to hide from the truth and hard choices. He was determined to make her the best she could be. So why does 13 get that slack? He really doesn't care. He's just bored. Or the writers are bored. Sigh.
Not enough Wilson time here too.
I did enjoy the newbies filing past Foreman, unsure of what his opinion was going to be after hearing the "thong challenge," and snorted when he replied "That's how I got the job."
The whole "Bring Me the Head of Dobie..." whoops, wrong show. Okay, the whole thong thing. Ridiculous. Pointless. Funny. Like I said, folks, the show is now a comedy. Take your laughs where you can.
