Some stuff (and a meme tag... I'm sorry...)

Well. I guess that this week hasn't been very eventful... I mean, it was just another average week. What can I say!

Yesterday I had another gig with Josh, Jack and Eric. It was fun; I think we did better than the last time we played together, because this time we actually rehearsed some tunes! How about that. It was at this really big old Episcopalian church in Cambridge, and they had this art show going on in the sanctuary, called "Art In The Pews" or something like that. It was really kind of interesting, there were many different artists and craftspeople there showing their work. The entertainment going on was some musicians, including us, and some poetry reading; and, you know, I'm all for poetry, but I couldn't help but make faces at these readings. Like... ugh. I can't even explain it. It was just bad. And one of the church dudes was really creepy; he had talked to us a bit beforehand and I got a bit of a weird vibe from him. It wasn't anything that greatly concerned me, like he was probably harmless, but you know how you sometimes get those vibes from people? Yeah. Anyways, I didn't think anything of it, but then after the show, I was standing outside talking with Josh and Jack, waiting for Eric to pack up his stuff, and I feel some(one/thing) touching my hair! And... ok, we all know I'm pretty obsessive about my hair. So I turn around and it's this dude, creepy smile on his face, and he said "I was just admiring your hair! How do you get it to stay up like that?" so I answered him, and then moved to the other side of Josh and Jack. No-one touches my hair. Not even people who I like. Especially not creepy dudes who I'd never met before.

There was also a drunk guy who came into the church as we were playing. He whipped a harmonica out of his pocket and started playing along with us (well... not really playing along; playing something completely different right beside us is probably a more accurate description). It was kind of funny, and after the song he chatted a bit with us (He told me "You play real well! I'm drunk so I'm gonna leave now, but you're really good!") and then he left. After the gig, we walked down to Toscanini's for ice cream (when are we not going to Toscanini's?) and the dude showed up again!! He walked beside us for a while, and was quite a lot more drunk than he was when he "played" with us at the church. It was kind of creepy again, to the point where I would have been afraid if I hadn't been walking with a big group of people. But I was! And that was okay.

At Tosci's after the gig, we hung out a bit, and had ice cream and coffee. It was great, because as we walked in, the manager, Gus, was there, and chatted a bit with Josh. He asked if this was the same group we'd played with before, and Josh said that it was. Gus said he asked because the only person he recognised was me. And then he made fun of my hair... I think someone just had it in for my hair last night or something. It was funny though, and then he made me a cappuccino, and I swear, I have never had a cappuccino as tasty as that one. Apparently there's more skill to cappuccino-making than meets the eye; Josh and Martin later told me that Gus is a living cappuccino legend.

After Tosci's, we headed home with our stuff, and then Josh and I went back out to an MIT residence where they were having a fondue party! So... I had fondue with MIT people. And apparently, you can major in music at MIT! Who would have thought? I certainly wouldn't have. Anyways, it was fun, I definitely love meeting new people.

Tonight, I'm going to Ruby's house for dinner with Josh, and then I'm going to see the Yellowjackets with Neil, and probably Linus. I am very excited, for reasons of which the least is not Bob Mintzer being a really hilarious-looking dude. I am amazed that that sentence makes sense. I'm also amazed that I'm still writing. But I have two more things.

I got meme-tagged.
RULES:
Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits/little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things/little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose at least 6 people to be tagged and list their names.

1. I drink too much tea for my own good. I'm talking, like... four cups a day, at a minimum.
2. I don't practice the piano nearly as much as I should. This isn't like people saying "Oh I only got three hours in today and I meant to do six," it's a number of hours that, if made publicly known, would lead Berklee to question why the hell they let me in the performance major.
3. I'm secretly addicted to the internet. Well... maybe it's not so secret. Sorry.
4. I hate phoning people, but I worked as a telemarketer and was damn good at it, and I love it when people phone me.
5. My right pinky finger is significantly longer than my left.
6. I get twitchy and mildly homicidal when I see spelling and grammar mistakes in advertisements and signs.
7. I'm only organized and studious when there are looming deadlines; other than that, I'm a lazy-ass slob.
8. I'm afraid I'm not going to know what I want to do with myself or be able to find a job when I graduate, especially since I'm also afraid that machines and computers are taking away all the jobs that I might have had.
9. I miss the trumpet. (Oh shit nobody saw that coming!!!!!!)
10. I like the rain because, to me, it feels like we all get a fresh start on life, no matter what the circumstances, when it finally stops. Yeah, it sounds cheesy, and it isn't always true, but rain is definitely cathartic for me. Except when I'm biking through it.

Screw rules, I'm not tagging anyone. If you want to do it, though, go for it :P

The second one is specifically for my mom, and less specifically for people who phone me on my land line. Mom, if you have tried to phone me this weekend, you won't have been able to get through. Don't freak out! Our internet has been screwy these past few weeks, and after several tests and re-configurations of our setup, Kael has determined that it's the fault of the phone router. So, we're going to go on Vonage tech support sometime soon, and in the meantime, my calls are apparently getting forwarded to my cell phone, but I'm not entirely sure how anything works, but just in case something happened and you tried to phone, that is why it didn't work.

And now, I'm off for home-made supper at Ruby's house! Hoorays for having friends who still live at home :D
