Today I learned that Vic, a.k.a.
Victoria School of the Performing and Visual Arts, a.k.a. my junior high and high school, was extremely damaged by arson a couple of nights ago; the library was wrecked, and surrounding classrooms and lockers got damaged by smoke. I found this out via a Facebook notification in my inbox saying "You have been invited to join the group 'Thank The Lord Vic Burned Down!' " I am pretty angry about this; I'm not quite sure if I'm justifiably so, but I think I am. Like... I was not aware that anything had happened to Vic, and then someone is making fun of it burning down? I'm thinking, hold on a second, back up, Vic burned down?? Dudes, it is not funny. Later on in the day, I got an email from my mom telling me briefly what had happened, and with a link to the newspaper article. But... damn. Seriously. I am really upset that the first I heard of it was shared in such an offhand, flippant way. Inappropriate, I say. And now I'm talking in circles, so I'll shut up.
And then I saw
this linked from
pianists and I just about cried with all the artistic carnage that I've been subjected to unawares today. It can really wear on a girl, I tell you.
