I've found that Canadians speak slower. Although, I'm quite certain that this is a huge generalization; I'm thinking I should probably say "The Canadians I know , on average, speak slower than the Americans I know." It's true that there are slow-speaking Americans and fast-speaking Canadians, but from my environment, this is what I've noticed.

For the infrastructure, it's the look in general. Boston was built in the 1700s, and while almost no buildings are around from that era, they are around from the 1800s and early 1900s. It was already a huge city then, and now most times people choose to renovate old buildings rather than to build new ones, so yeah, stuff is old. Edmonton, on the other hand, is a relatively new city, being founded only about 100 years ago as a little town, so everything is much newer. And, much more spread out; it's a good and bad thing, in that if you have a car, everything is easy as hell to get to, and the streets are a numbered grid, and easy to navigate. In Boston, all the streets were designed for walking or for horses, so it's nearly impossible to navigate with a car. Also, they're not numbered, nor do they really make any kind of structural sense... this is why Google Earth and Google Maps are my best friends :D:D:D
