As I said in my previous post, the whole room was alight for the entire time that our boys were on stage, both alone and together. After they went off to be ensconced behind a curtain at a table to sign autographs and we waited to be called forward row by row to have our one item per J signed the room was very much all of a twitter.
Having never seen the boys before I have to say that my first ever meeting did not disappoint. I was in row T and so pretty far back in the auditorium and really got no more physical impression of the boys than you might get from seeing them on screen except for the close up look I got of Jared when he ran to hug the fan who was too upset to speak. However the atmosphere is something that you can't get from the screen and so even without the autograph encounter - going to the convention was worth it, but the face to face time made it so much more special.
I admit to primping and preening a bit (OK a lot) before hand, I even went so far as to wear a dress and put on make up, I tried to look as much like my picture as I could. I figured that the boys had made an effort and so should I.
I had taken along the poster of Ten Inch Hero which I got from David Mackay at the screening in London in September. I wanted Jensen to sign it. I had to buy a picture at the con for Jared to sign since none of my own stuff was really useable. Fortunately they had some lovely pics to choose from in the dealers room.
When I was finally allowed into the curtained off autograph area Jensen was sitting at the first table. He looked so incredibly happy and relaxed
He just shone! I know that sounds gooey and trite and unreal, but believe me when I tell you that it was true. He was glowing and incredibly, astoundingly, astonishingly, unbelievably, amazingly, delectebaly, utterly and completely beautiful.
If I could have put some more adverbs in that sentence to describe him then I would have because believe you me that boy is so beautiful in the flesh that it is impossible to adequately describe. If you think he is gorgeous on film and in pictures then let me tell you that what you see from the camera's perspective is not even half as beautiful as he is in person. The camera cannot capture his inner spirit and this is what adds so adorably to complete the effect.
His voice too!!! OMG!!! Why was I not prepared for how completely it ould undo me to hear his real voice, not miked up, not the acting and appearing on stage voice but the 'I'm talking just to you' voice. WOW
The woman in front of me commiserated with him at having to sign just over 2,000 autographs in a limited amount of time (they were due to get their flight back to Vancouver pretty soon and still had half the audience to go) and bet that this was the worst part of his job.
I was standing right next to her and he looked up at us both and said;
"Oh heck no, try standing in the cold and the mud and the rain with fake blood and gore all over you and freezing."
I said "So you'd rather be in the warm signing pictures
He looked me right in the eyes (swoon) and said; "Exactly, but I have to do the mud and the rain thing first, but I like it really - just not so keen on being cold." Then he grinned and I swear to god that his whole face lit up and the room felt very warm.
Then I passed him my poster and told him how much I had enjoyed the film to which he said thank you and that he had too. I said I hoped it would get a proper release someday soon and he said he hoped so too. Then he signed just below the picture of his eyes on the poster and I said "Thank you very much and thank you for coming" to which he said "You're more than welcome and thank you"
Then the person handing Jared things to sign tried to pass the TIH poster to him but I said that I had something else for Jared and passed her the photo. Jared took them both and looked at the poster and said, "You don't want me to sign this?"
I said no, sorry because you aren't in that movie. He said "No I'm not, but he looked at it really hard and then pointed to all the pictures (the poster consists of eyes of the four lead actors) and said - pointing
"That's Daneel, that's Jensen, who's that?" Pointing at Clea Duvall, so I told him and then said, "And that's Elizabeth..." he supplied "Harnois" and I agreed, he said "She has very pretty eyes." I agreed and said that she was very pretty and that he should see the film if he got the chance as it was delightful. He smiled - all dimples and said he'd love to see it then he signed his photo and handed me back the poster and photo. Tsaid "Thank you so much." and he said "Not at all, Thank YOU." and then I was done. However the lady I sat next to all weekend had brought presents for the boys in the shape of two christmas tree ornaments. They said Thing 1 and Thing 2 on them and when she presented them to the boys Jared laughed and said that they totally had to put them on their tree this year. How lovely was that? Jensen was laughing too and thanking her as I was leaving and then I headed back to my seat.
By the time I reached it I was shaking. It might seem ridiculous that tow young men - who are young enough for me to be their mother - can reduce me to a delighted puddle of goo, but they did with their grace and their charm and their wit not to mention their utter beauty of both spirit and face.
I'm more of a fan than ever now and I am so glad that I had this opportunity to meet them.
All too soon the convention was over but rest assured I will do my utmost to be there again next year.
HUGS to one and all
