Ph 48: Rainer Maria Rilke

My eyes already touch the sunny hill,
Going far ahead of the road I have begun.
So we are grasped by what we cannot grasp;
it has its inner light, even from a distance -

and changes us, even if we do not reach it,
into something else, which hardly sensing it, we
already are;
a gesture waves us on, answering our own wave…
but what we feel is the wind on our faces.

Pg 51: Jaun Ramon Jimenez

I am not I.
I am this one.
Walking beside me, whom I do not see,
Whom at times I manage to visit,
And at other times I forget.
The one who forgives, sweet, when I hate,
The one who remains silent when I talk,
The one who takes a walk when I am indoors,
The one who will remain standing when I die.
