TM-220: If you could buy a magic potion, what would it be?

If you could buy a magic potion, what would it be?

There’s something in the water.

Faustus isn’t a magician. He’s a very, very dangerous psychiatrist, with a few tech-based telepathic tricks up his sleeve. He brainwashes. He breaks you down. At first, you hear his voice in your head. Then you only think you do. Soon enough, you can’t tell the difference between his voice and your own.

But sometimes, however great his skills might be, he needs a little… chemical help.

The potion is harmless. Flavorless. Odorless. And the bottles have the company name. The guards don’t suspect a thing. Hydration is key. Water is the healthiest drink there is. Best to have 8 glasses a day. Before training. During training. After training. RockyWater, bottled and labeled, kept in big cylindrical coolers in the mess hall, on the training field. It’ll make you stronger. Fiercer. Ready to fight. Just drink some more.

Sharon suspects. Sharon, in fact, knows. She remembers Faustus’ gases, his chemical manipulations. But Sharon understands. Not everyone is so easily swung to the side of right. Not everyone can see the glory of this plan. Not everyone is here because they know it’s where they should be. So they need… assistance. Artificial reason.

Sharon drinks the magic potion, the same as all the soldiers. But she doesn’t need it. She doubts she ever will.

All the reason she needs is already in her mind.
