I'm in love!
I happened to tune in to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno just now, and Peter O' Toole was the guest. I am now absolutely, irrevocably, madly, helplessly in love with that man. And not just Peter O' Toole circa Lawrence of Arabia, where he was undeniably a heartbreaker (just look above at the sculpted face! And if the picture were in colour, you'd see those piercing blue eyes too). I'm in love with the 75-year-old, white haired, wrinkled Peter O' Toole too.
On the show, he was absolutely charming, brilliantly funny, completely self-deprecating, and just so effortlessly captivating. His charisma is wonderful; from the moment he walked out, he took command of everyone completely, without saying a word. When sharing anecdotes about his wild, boozing days, he cracked everyone up completely with just one look, or the tilt of his head, or a half smile.
Everything about him is so classy, so together. And his voice..... *heart flutters* I would chew through my arm to have been able to see him on stage, doing those Shakespeare plays. Just two of his lines from the Jay Leno show:
When asked by Leno on being advised by his doctor to take exercise, O' Toole says: The only exercise I take is following the coffins of friends who took exercise.
And when O' Toole talks about breaking his thigh after a fall recently, he says: I've got a nice new tin hip now. It's better than the old one!
