Get you some church son

So the majority of my weekend was spent with God.  Friday night I was burnt out after staying up late to study for our last physio exam.   I got a B+ on it so it was worth it.  I actually sat up Thursday night with Nate helping him to read through it because he got his eyes dilated big time at the optometrist.  So he called and sheepishly asked if I'd read to him, a rather amusing proposition I thought.  But we got quite a bit of studying done and both did well on it.

Saturday I got up early for Men's Breakfast and man am I glad that I did.  The guest speaker was Harry Walls, a black pastor that is friends with Pastor Gary and preaches in St. Louis city.  He is an extremely dynamic preacher.  He's got the passion of the evangelist you see on TV with the great message and deep thinking that you get with a real good speaker.  You know you've got a gift when you can get a bunch of white men to yell out AMEN passionately at 8:30am on a Saturday.  He talked to us about how Men get our desires backwards when it comes to following Christ.  Too often when men come into a church they are immediately asked to start serving the church and he said that we have to lead our brothers to a Desire for a Relationship with Christ and then a Desire for Intimacy with Christ and from that relationship and intimacy comes the Desire to Serve his church because of the love we have for Him.  It was amazing.

Then after the MMLT meeting I went upstairs to get the media show ready for Sunday.  Then after I got done with that, I took like a 2 hour nap and then Chip called and invited Nate and I to come over to grill out with him and Mallory.  So we had a great time helping cook and enjoying some venison and chicken kabobs.  Then Nate and I went to Windsor Crossing again for their Saturday night service and got these sweet bracelets that sum up what Jesus said were the two most important commandments.  Love the Lord your God, with all your heart, all your mind, and all your strength; and love your neighbor as yourself.  So the bracelet simply says "Love God - Love All".  The reason being was that the kids ministry their did the service Saturday and so it was basically just about the Ten Commandments but in simple and fun format.  So there wasn't a sermon, it was a Family Feud Skit, very well done, between the Farisee family and the D'Ziple family.  It was extremely funny.

Afterwards we went back and rocked out with some Rock Band til about midnight because I had to go sleep because I had to be at church by 8am for practice.

So, Sunday.  Everything was going hunky dory until random thunderstorm caused a power surge.  I rebooted the computer and everything was going fine until service started about 10 minutes later and as I went to put up the first slide, the projector shut off and wouldn't come back on so I had to go through the labyrinth underneath the church to get to the projector to restart it manually.  Looked super professional.  But everything went well.  Then I slept from after church until Life Group.  We had a great discussion, it was the first time we'd met for some time so everyone was eager to catch up and then share and contribute to a good talk about the God who creates, this week's sermon title.

I also found out that my friend Nick finally got approval from the elders to do concerts in the Doxa.  Not Christian concerts, but just a virtually no restrictions concert for local bands that need a venue.  So we are going to be the body of Christ and reach out to the community in what little ways we can.  Its very exciting to finally see our church doing some real outreach.

Peace and Love my friends.
