30 Days of Fanfic - Day 3
3 - For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to write?
D&DC - My gut reaction to that would, of course, be Eric. In fact, even the stories that aren't about him seem to feature him prominently in some way. (Although I have been very surprised at how often Hank has appeared as a key player in many of my fics - and even more surprised at how much I enjoyed writing him. I like when I have a great excuse to make him very conflicted, though - even a little morally ambiguous! Because that's lots more fun than Hank-the-Good-Boy!) But, if we're going with favorites, I'd still say Eric. (Preferably with a lot of Diana to banter with!)
Buffy/Angel - Spike (and Buffy) all the way! Spike, in particular, is one of my favorite characters of all time, so I adored writing him.
Firefly - Wash, definitely. Though my favorite way to write him was always in the company of his lovely, ass-kicking wife. So if a pairing can count as a character, I'd definitely say Wash-and-Zoë!
Dr. Who - Yeah, I'm skipping this one because I didn't nearly write enough fic to have a favorite character. (And even in the fic I did write, it wasn't the character so much as the story that I was focused on.) I've never even been as into reading stories in this fandom in general - though when I did, it was usually about Nine. (Or *gasp* Human!Ten!)
Megamind - Definitely the man, himself . . . at least so far. You know, looking back over this entry, there's certainly a pattern for the type of characters I like to write about. Sure, they all seem to be cocky, funny, and arrogant with a hidden soft side (and even a sad/tragic backstory), but the thing I seem to enjoy the most is an amazing redemption arc. With the exception of Wash (who I just love for being Wash), all my fandom loves seem to have that, and it makes for wonderful story ideas. Megamind is the latest in that line, and he's also in very good company here.
