Musings about Out-There Anime, Names & Numbers, and Yummy Spirits with Pageboy Hair
Conversation between me and Editorial Queen about Miyazaki's Spirited Away. (Beware of possible spoilers.):
Rummi: Finally saw “Spirited Away” last night
EQ: And?
Rummi: Will have to watch it again to give proper assessment
EQ: No opinion?
Rummi: It was good
Rummi: But weird
EQ: it’s anime
Rummi: Anime can be good
EQ: I mean you’ve basically summed up anime
EQ: good, but weird
Rummi: Chihiro screamed a lot
EQ: only every other line
EQ: The actress who played her is cute, though
EQ: She was on “Donnie Darko”
Rummi: Another weird film
Rummi: Did she scream a lot in that one too?
EQ: She danced
EQ: not like Chihiro who just screamed
Rummi: My mom just wanted to hug her
EQ: I believe that
EQ: your mom loves all
Rummi: *g*
Rummi: She didn’t have very good parents, did she?
EQ: Her dad was very pushy. Basically just irresponsible
Rummi: That bothered me about the movie. Maybe I’m just thinking about people that I know, but it seemed very unrealistic that they would do everything that they did in the beginning.
EQ: “Let’s just sit down and eat in an abandoned restaurant.” They basically ignored their kid.
Rummi: Funny how she was the only smart one.
Rummi: Possible movie theme: “Children are tuned into fantasy worlds more than adults”
EQ: except you
Rummi: Innocence is bliss *VBG*
EQ: You wouldn’t have eaten the “spirit food”?
Rummi: I don’t know, that giant fish head looked really good!
EQ: You’ve eaten fish heads before
Rummi: It’s not the same without the eyes!
EQ: So you could have been Sen
Rummi: Eh. I guess I wouldn’t have minded being with Haku
Rummi: Haku was quite yummy for a youngster
EQ: It’s the hair
EQ: and the voice
Rummi: He’s Peter Pan
EQ: ?
Rummi: Jason Marsden played Peter Pan in the old Fox series
EQ: Ah. So you want to hang out with Haku/Peter?
Rummi: I would scream a lot less
EQ: But would you fall down as much as Sen?
Rummi: *lol*
Rummi: Miyazaki seems to like naming his heroines after Japanese numbers
Rummi: Sen = “1000” (Methinks)
Rummi: San = “3”
EQ: Now, Princess Mononoke was a *great* movie!
Rummi: And Ashitaka…
Rummi: Another hottie with the pageboy hair!
EQ: I like him. He was more mature.
Rummi: *is reminded of the PM fic that she started a year ago*
EQ: *eyebrow* You do have a lot of writing to do!
