Laptop Trouble
Okay, I'm more than a little nervous right now. I'm updating from school because last night I was doing some work on my laptop before bed and *WHAM!* it freezes for no reason whatsoever. I was forced to reboot it to get it to do anything and now it absolutely refuses to restart. (I can't get past the "Welcome to Windows XP" screen.)
I don't want to do anything drastic which may result in me losing everything on that computer (not the least of which being the most updated versions of the three stories I'm working on, but also all my personal (non-gmail) email and Chance's story, which I was in the midst of beta'ing), but I don't have a clue how to fix it. With the exception of a downloaded vid here and there, I haven't loaded anything onto the laptop for quite a while. (No new programs or anything.) I thought it might be some kind of virus, but I have no idea where I may have picked it up.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? Any thoughts as to what might be done?
