Today's Pip adventure included a trip to the park! Slide, swings, and sand!
Pip usually swings in the little kid swings, the kind that look like a large black plastic diaper and are intended for kids 3 and under. She kept talking about the "big kid swings" though. So we stopped swinging on the baby swing and I took her to the big kid swing. I sat with her on my lap and we swung (swang?). It was a bit scary for me. What if she went flying? What if I dropped her? What if she happily sat and then lay on me as I lay all the way back on the swing seat and we gently went back and forth in the mild spring air? Mesmerizing, hypnotic, soothing swinging for both of us. We stopped when it was time to go ride the slide. It was the big kid slide. I thought she would want me to ride down with her. Lo and behold, down the big kid slide all by herself. Lifting her up to the top (oh god please don't fall [not much chance of that]) and down the slide. Rinse and repeat. My shoulders ache from lifting her up to the top. Playing and climbing and telling me to back up so she can go up and down stairs on her own.
It's better because I was anxious and I let that go.
