“Is he scared yet, Grandmother, do you think?”

Ever so slightly, yes. *g*

That was superb. Your character voices were so accurate as usual, and I love how you've managed to writer both these two so convincingly.

"They are the future, and very soon the world will be as tired of your fusty old masters as I am tired of men like you."

Yes, Darla always was a very forward thinking lass. :0

I really enjoyed this! Darla was so...Darla...and I wasn't at all sorry about Mr Bentley's fate.

He's not particularly likeable, is he? Glad you enjoyed it, and looking forward to reading your story.

This was a lovely way to distract myself from grading Henry VIII annotated bibliographies (and probably much more educational! *g*). Perhaps predictably, I liked the historicity of this piece best of all, but the characters were well-drawn, too. Well done!

Ooh, this is wonderful! I love the way we slowly find out how much of a git Mr Bentley is just as Mr Bentley slowly discovers how not nice Darla and Druslla are - it's a very nice parallel. And I love all the art history stuff, even though it isn't really my thing in any serious way. Mr Bentley getting enticed into the Gay/Female Gaze is priceless. (And worlds collide: I've been hearing loads this week about Marsilio Ficino and neo-Platonism because he's a major influence on this 15th century Latin poetry I'm doing! I feel so informed...)

Darla and Dru are really fabulous.

:) Thank you. He is a git, isn't he? Mind you, I'm sure most people of his day would have thought his reaction to Darla quite normal.

Art history isn't my thing either, have to say. I googled it all. However, I thought if anyone came along and said I'd got it wrong it wouldn't matter, as Samuel isn't nearly as well-informed as he thinks he is.

Thanks so much for reading, love, and for taking part. I adore your fic. It's fabulous.
