I don't have a whole lot to say about this episode....
Spoilers behind cut.
...mainly because I found what happened to the second dragon and to Missandei so upsetting that I just don't want to talk about it very much.
It also makes me sad that all Dany's emotional support has been ripped away. It feels like the story has boxed her into a corner. Cersei's giving her no option but to walk away or to follow in her mad father's footsteps, and she's not going to walk away.
Well, of course, you could say that the fact that she's not going to walk away means she's not fit to be queen, but she's only in this position in the first place because she agreed to do what Cersei wouldn't do and help defeat the Night King.
And of course there's still more down to come when Dany finds out - as she inevitably will- that John did tell his family about his real identity, and that it now won't be long before the rumour mill makes sure everyone knows, just like Dany said would happen.
I feel really sorry for her, in case it wasn't obvious, and I don't want her to go mad and for everyone to hate her.
There were nice things in the episode, of course -notably Brienne's brief happiness with Jaime. I really, really hope he's heading back to Kingslanding not to support Cersei but to kill her. I know Arya's heading that way too, though, so I'm reasonably reassured that if Jaime doesn't do it, Arya will. Likewise that the Hound/Mountain showdown will happen.
I'm also a little hopeful that we won't see Sam and Gilly again, because that will mean that at least Sam had a happy ending, which he deserves IMO. Oh, and Ghost has gone to a good home too, so that's something.
Only two episodes left.
Trivial stuff:
Not really so trivial, I suppose. I honestly wasn't expecting the episode with the big battle against the Night King to seem like a jolly romp in retrospect, but this episode was such a downer that that's how I feel at the moment.
