Game of Thrones Season 8 Ep 1

Apr 17, 2019 12:43

Hello.

I realise I haven't posted in over a month, and that it'd be a bit much to come back, put up a Game of Thrones review and disappear again, so I'll try not to do that last thing. I don't know what's happened to me really. I just have this vast reluctance to post at all, and I don't know why, beyond that feeling like I have nothing ( Read more... )

And I agree with your spoilers. I am one of the few people who cannot wait to see Dany get her comeuppance. I was happy to see a little more Tyrion, they kinda forgot him in S7.

I like Dany, in a qualified sort of way. Until she burnt the Tarlys I would have been fine with her becoming queen. After that, though, I find I don't really care who wins the 'game' in the end.

In fact, there were quite a few moments in season 7 - and plenty even before that - when I was pretty much Team Night King.

I'm just the same, in fact I don't think I've posted this year. I have no idea why apart from a certain lack of time due to my husband being retired now and the feeling that the things I'm doing now don't really chime with what I used to use LJ for.

Happy belated Birthday!

Yes, there's a lot of that for me too. I'm not really in fandom any more and I'm just a boring granny most of the time. ;)

I'm not looking at your review because I haven't seen it yet (and that normally wouldn't bother me but I'm probably going to watch it tomorrow, so too soon to have forgotten what you said), but that's exactly how I feel about posting, too. I see something interesting or, occasionally, I do something quite interesting, and I mean to post about it, but then I think, who's going to read it?

Which is silly, really, because I read other people's posts to cheer myself up, but the feeling's hard to shake.

That's the same with me. :(

And this even though I know that the more of us do, and act, that way, the sooner LJ/DW will die altogether. Oh well.

It's nice to see you anyway, and I hope you'll come back and comment when you've seen the episode.

Not surprisingly (given 20 months!), I totally forgot you were posting GOT reviews and I'm really looking forward to reading them. I thought the CGI work in this ep was pretty spectacular too.

And as for Danny killing the Tarlys, that seems to be SOP for kings/queens in medieval times. I don't think there's anyone who might potentially hold the throne in GOT who hasn't killed those they decided needed killing. These folks are definitely bloodthirsty. Even Jon, who would probably be the most just and merciful of any of them, hasn't shied from handing out that kind of 'justice' when he felt it was warranted.

Yes, it was amazing! I loved the dragon ride sequence. As for the reviews, I've done them right from the start so it'd be a shame to give up now. ;)

Oh yes, definitely. But she could have spared Tarly Jnr. Tempering justice (as she saw it, they were rebelling against their rightful queen) with mercy. She's done it before, and it would have been politic, given that she was newly in Westeros and needs to win people over. She misstepped there, I think.
