Star Trek Discovery Season 2

Jan 18, 2019 16:38

I just watched the first episode of the new season of Star Trek: Discovery. I enjoyed it, but I'm pretty certain all the people who loathed the first season are going to loathe this too. Oh well.

Spoilers behind cut

I did think it seemed to flow better than the early episodes of season 1, plus, it's good that we finally have the names of the rest of the bridge crew. Also, I really do like Michael Burnham (I always did), but I feel (and have always felt) that she's been made so omni-competent it's slightly silly. I can live with it, though, because I like the character. But all the retconning stuff with Spock is going to annoy some people. Well, it already has, and this episode is not going to help.

In other TV-watching news, I'm still working my way through season 2 of The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, which I'm absolutely loving, and the current series of The Good Place, likewise. Nothing else to report really.

Oh, one thing - according to Tom Ellis on Twitter (and I guess he should know, but I'm still waiting to hear it from someone official), Netflix will be showing Lucifer season 4 in the UK. All the previous seasons will then become available on UK Netflix too. Until then, we can continue to watch them on Amazon Prime.

This seems weird to me. Does it seem weird to anyone else?
