arthur getting shot + merlin crying. MERLIN GETTING TO USE HIS NURSING SKILLS. MEAN NAMES AND GENTLE SLAPPING = LOVE. "I NEED YOU TO RECOVER," THERE ARE PLENTY OF PRINCES OUT THERE...BUT I'LL GIVE THIS ONE MORE CHANCE. CRYING MERLIN ;A;
What I thought was quite interesting was Merlin's response to Taliesin when asked why he was upset. Merlin said, "My friend is dying and I can't help him"
Not the Prince, not the Once and Future King, nothing about the Greatest King Camelot has ever known. His friend is hurt.
That definitely stuck out to me and it put the biggest smile on my face. Take that people who say they aren't friends. (Which, admittedly, I've only seen a few people say.)
I think people confuse Arthur channelling his inner Prat Regent with the real Arthur who is a nice kid overall, but also struggles with the idea of being a real person vs. a Prince. And he emulates his father in one area and that is anger management. The throwing of dinnerware and things, while very disagreeable to us as the audience, is really Arthur dealing well with...whatever. He just does not know any better-yet.
What I think is interesting is how calm Merlin was, but not really calm. You sort of expect him to be all angsty and frantic but Merlin is very calm and silent in his grief, which I think makes a lot of sense because Merlin is sort of a suffer-in-silence kind of guy. Oh, the sob! The sob broke me! Oh, Colin.
