i thought merlin was with you?
ARTHUR'S BRITCHES ARE DIRTY!
WHAT IF MERLIN WAS DYING? WELL HE WASN'T; SO WHERE WAS HE?! :|
ARTHUR HASN'T HAS BREAKFEAST! HE'LL JUST HAVE TO HAVE MERLIN, THEN.

Merlin doesn't return home at night.

Gaius therefore assumes he is with Arthur.

He did not go and see Arthur before to see if Merlin was with him.

Therefore he knows they mustn't have wanted to be disturbed.

Canon proof yes?

Fantastic logic. I had the same thoughts going through my head during that scene.

(Also, Arthur has no britches to wear? Sad day in Camelot. Sad.)

It's so obvious.

(and no socks either! Poor Arthur.)

Dude Arthur literally said, "I'll have you for breakfast"(he did say it angrily, but none the less). I almost died *fans herself from the innuendo*

And Arthur didn't give Merlin permission in the first place, god.

the state of Arthur's chambers: Arthur is a slob, or Arthur had a tantrum worrying about Merlin?

Tantrum is my bet.
