so, lately I have had several people let me know how dumb it is to get upset over people smoking. this has been a constant point of conflict between me and my friends. I would just like to explain myself a bit better than just saying that I don't like it

Well, after I posted a smart ass reply to lighten the mood. Shit got heavy. So here I go as devil's advocate. When someone is seen smoking we automatically stick a "unhealthy and unclean" stigma to them. As Michael earlier stated, obesity is more prominant and common than smoking and just as damaging. When someone is smoking, people say "You should quit. It's not healthy." So from now on, whenever I see someone eating something unhealthy, I will say "You should quit, it's unhealthy." Also, where Megan has the right to hate smoking, everyone else has the right to enjoy it if the see fit. I hate watching people be in a relationship that I know is unhealthy and failing (Megan, you and I have both seen our shares of these) but it isn't my business or place to tell them how to deal. It is one person's choice/right/decision and whether someone else likes it or not shouldn't affect your decision. Because that's just like dressing a different way because someone doesn't like your clothes. If it is something you want to do, other people's opinions of it do NOT matter and are trivial.
