Zoopharmocognozy
Several accounts exist of people discovering plant drugs in the ancient world by watching animals. I didn't realize there was actually a specific word for this. I also wasn't aware of any modern observations along these lines until I ran across an article on the self-medicating behavior of chimps. Pretty interesting!
