Winged Migration

Last night I finally saw the film called Winged Migration. Perhaps it's a bit late to rave about this film because it's been out for a while, but really, I was amazed. The photography was astounding and the film provides a wonderful introduction to the incredible bird migrations that have occurred for millenia. The DVD includes a very interesting documentary on how the film was made by training several flocks of birds for a few years to fly with the people on the film crew.

One bird filmed but not labeled which I thought was very interesting was a water bird that shaded the water with its wings wrapped around its head, and then darted for fish from that position. I wish I knew what it was.
