RPS Fic: On His Back 4/4 (Chris Pine/Karl Urban)

Aug 10, 2009 18:48

Title: On His Back 4/4
Rating: PG13
Pairing: Chris/Karl (slash), slight Chris/various
Summary: The rest of the cast just finds him so irresistible that self control and subtlety doesn’t seem to be in their vocabulary when he’s around. Chris is oblivious, either that or he’s just in denial. Or it may be entirely something else..
Warning:Slash and spoilers for the new movie. Mainly because it’s the only Star Trek movie/show I’ve ever seen (don't hurt me).  Unbeta'd so mistakes are solely mine
Disclaimer: Not mine. They belong to themselves.

A/N: Waaaahh. I can't believe this is RPS. Anyway, so in the movie James T. Kirk seemed to be spending lotsa time lying on his back so it made me wonder what would it have been like for Chris Pine to shoot those scenes and here’s its product.

On His Back 4/4

Karl finds himself heading for Eric’s trailer later that same day. He doesn’t really know what to say but for some reason he has to get to the bottom of this. He no longer has intentions of asking Zach. It seems Eric would be a good choice because he was the one who broke the norm. Karl figures he wouldn’t mind telling Karl what is really going on.

“Can we talk?” He asks as soon as Eric opens his door.

“Well, c’mon in, mate.” Eric tells him, opening the door wider. “I might know what this is all about.” He goes on as he drops onto the couch in front of the television in a lazy sprawl.

“Oh, do you?” Karl asks slightly amused as he grabs one of the chairs from the makeshift dining table and sits facing the other man.

“You’re here to ask me about your boy, Chris.”

“I do?" Karl humors him.

“Yes you do.”

“Did those three put you up to this? To that thing that happened at the green room?”

“Of course.”

“Why?”

“What do you mean why?”

“I mean. WHY?”

“You do not know? I thought it had been obvious.”

“No.”

“They’re trying to make you jealous, mate.”

“Wha-?”

“Apparently, those three think you two would make a great couple so they devised a plan to get you together.”

“That’s how they play matchmaker? Molest Chris in front of everybody and make the poor guy think they’ve gone wacko?”

“Actually, it’s molest Chris in front of you and make the poor guy think he’s gone wacko.”

“Did they actually say ‘molest’?”

“No, I think they said ‘show you what you’ve been missing’. They said you’re already around the boy a lot even when you didn’t have to.”

It’s true.

When Zoe had ‘molested’ Chris, he wasn’t supposed to be there. When John and Zach ‘molested’ Chris, he didn’t have to be there. When Zach ‘molested’ Chris for the second time, he was there but it had definitely been for emphasis on ‘what he’s been missing’. Lastly, he didn’t have to be there when Eric and Chris were shooting.

All along, he thought he had been watching from the sidelines but apparently, not far from the sidelines enough if the three had seen him hanging around. It’s not that he was hiding or anything. It’s just, he likes to watch other people filming. Particularly Chris. And perhaps that should have been a revelation in itself.

“It didn’t work you, know. They’re plan, backfired. With you.” Karl tells the Aussie.

“How so?”

“Chris hugged you back, he never returned affection with them. ” He doesn’t mention Chris has a man crush on Eric. Karl doesn’t even know if he’s suppose to know about Chris’ man crush on Eric.

“That boy’s a sweetie. He asked my why I was hugging him and I told him it’s because it’s share-a-hug day in Australia today. So he hugged me back.” Eric says, smiling fondly.

Karl laughs at the deviousness.

“Brilliant.”

“I’m on your side on this one, mate. I thought the matchmaking thing had been extreme.”

“Well, it didn’t work, did it?”

“You really think so?" This time it's Eric that's clearly humoring him.

“Definitely.”

“Well, then why are you here?”

Karl couldn’t really find a decent answer for that.

-*********-

Karl contemplates on the conversation in Eric’s trailer as he steps out into the night.

“Stupid, Eric Bana.” He mutters to himself again, fondly this time.

The sun had gone down but he can still hear people filming on the nearby set. He fishes his cell phone out of his pocket and scrolls for Chris’ number on his contact list. Chris has wrapped early for today and today is technically Karl’s day off. Just a few voiceovers he already finished in the morning.

He snaps his phone shut before he could even find the number when he notices Chris’ trailer lights are on. There’s a chance the young man is still around.

He knocks softly on the door and opens it slowly when no one answers.

“Chris, I know security’s tight here. But still, you should really lock your….door.” The last word turns into a slight whisper when he turns to find Chris asleep on the couch.

Chris is lying on his back, an arm dangling on his side, barely reaching the floor and his head resting on the couch’s arm at an awkward angle. There’s going to be a stiff neck in his immediate future, no doubt about it.

So Karl slowly approaches the sleeping form and carefully maneuvers Chris on his side and Karl squeezes himself in the small couch with him. He adjusts the lax body to lie against his chest and Chris automatically moves to drape an arm across Karl’s tummy and snuggles closer against him, murmuring Karl’s name in his sleep.

Karl’s heart melts a little at the unconscious act.

Just when Karl is about to doze off himself, Chris’ sleeping head shoots up in alarm.

“Karl?” He exclaims, shock evident on the handsome face as he stares disbelievingly at the man lying in the couch with him.

“What?” Karl asks, nonchalantly.

“I..I…was looking for you.” Chris stammers, Karl knows he’s confuse at how they ended up lying in the small couch together, but like Karl he doesn’t move to disentangle himself.

“I was at Eric’s.”

“Oh.” Chris says and settles his head on Karl’s chest and slowly drapes his arm across his stomach and squeezes tightly. “You know, it’s share-a-hug day in Australia today.” Chris says sleepily.

Karl laughs at that and squeezes back.

“So, I’ve heard.” He tells Chris. “But in New Zealand it’s share-a-kiss-that-will-render-someone-breathless day.” He says, wriggling his eyebrows.

“What makes you think I’ll fall for that?” Chris’ laugh is beautiful, Karl has to close his eyes at the melodic sound.

“You fell for Eric’s share-a-hug day.” He exclaims, feigning hurt.

“Didn’t anyone tell you? I have a man crush on Eric Bana.” Chris tells him playfully.

Karl doesn’t reply. Instead he tilts Chris’ head up and bends down to kiss the amazingly soft lips and sighs as Chris presses against him further to deepen the kiss.

They break apart, breathless as promised. Yeah, Karl should probably call the Prime Minister and have today be declared share-a-kiss-that-will-render-someone-breathless day.

“I supposed I have a man crush on you, too.” Chris says in a slightly embarrassed tone, licking kiss-swollen lips and grinning when Karl laughs soundly.

“Zach, John and Zoe would be happy to hear that.”

“I know.”

“You do?”

“Uh-huh. I asked Eric and he told me.”

So there had been more to that hug in the green room. Yep, Eric is definitely devious.

“He told me, too.” Karl says. He probably owes the Aussie a gift basket or something.

“You know, tomorrow is fuck-your-lover-senseless day.” Chris says half playfully, half shyly, never looking up from where he is absentmindedly watching his fingers softly drumming against Karl’s broad chest.

“Really?”

“Yep.”

“Well, it’s officially tomorrow in five hours. You think I still have time to take my lover out for dinner or maybe even a movie?”

“That depends.” Chris replies, as if contemplating. “Is your lover the same person you kissed on share-a-kiss day? ‘Coz it has to be him, it’s the law.”

“Share-a-kiss-that-will-render-someone-breathless is a New Zealand holiday.” Karl explains. “Isn’t fuck-your-lover-senseless an American one?”

“Nope, it’s a joint project thing.”

The End
