the value of your presents....

I tell you, I remember "wanting" so much for x-mas, but never really gave thought to what will make my happiness last from a gift...yes, I am perpetually a teenager... I am a firm believer in "not having what you want, but wanting what you have", however I think Christina has taught me more than anything the difference between getting something you "want" as opposed to geting something you "need". I've been going down the "get something you NEED" route with Christina now and I tell you I appreciate a gift way more because it's practical and there more use out of it. So everytime X-mas or a birthday comes around and someone asks me "what do you want for xxxx?" I tend to think of what I need more than what I want impulsively.

EXAMPLE:
I really needed boxers and dressy casual shirts for work just to name a couple..no, really I reeeaallly needed new boxers. I haven't bought any new boxers for like almost 6 years and they look horribly frayed and hobo-like now. For this X-mas that's exactly what I got. Was I overjoyed? Well I wasn't doing cartwheels, but I know the value of having new boxers and shirts will benefit me for the rest of the year... and then that's when I get that contemplative satisfaction moment...I'm getting older..definitely.

My thoughts are less & less frivolous..though I do force myself to be frivoluous more times than Christina would like me to be..LOL!

You don't stop playing because you're getting old, You get old because you stop playing.
