AIDS Walk Orange County....Fundraising Alert!

Apr 05, 2011 12:14

AIDS Walk is coming up in just a few weeks. I have a number of friends who are long-term survivors and every one is out helping other people in the community. I think that's awesome.

I am walking in honor of these survivors, including my friend Chuck, who was a 20-year survivor and passed last year of a heart attack, a relatively "natural" cause for a man of his age.

I am trying to raise $150. Every single dollar helps - my friends are helped by many of the action groups this walk benefits. Everything from rental assistance to legal assistance with work to medical care and more.

I am walking with several church members in cooperation with the Shanti Strutters.

If you feel moved to donate, every dollar adds up.

Here's the donate link: http://tinyurl.com/3czvv5u
If you're in the US, it's tax deductible. But you can donate online from anywhere in the world.

Personally, my goal is to complete the 5k walk. I had a tendon injury that interrupted my workouts and walking, but I'm getting back in gear. Finishing this on my feet will be a huge personal triumph as well - as soon as I could (someone said too soon, oops) I got right back into training. Yesterday I did a mile; today it's a mile and a quarter goal.

Please help support AIDS Services Foundation, my team, and me if you can.

Thanks!

Shannon
