Couple Two...Bones (But not the Pairing you're thinking of)
I began watching the second season of Bones, a few weeks ago, and was ready to fall in love with the Bones/Booth pairing. Unfortunately…it was the Hodgins and Angela pairing that I fell for. The writers want you to be invested in this main couple so you’ll watch for however many seasons for them to finally get together in the last episode. So while I find the Bones/Booth relationship cute, it is how Angela and Hodgins will reunite that has me guessing.
On the outside, you have two very different characters. Angela is a free living artist, Hodgins a paranoid bug scientist who just happens to be the richest character on the show. They began their relationship with playful flirtation. Hodgins then asks Angela on a date and they go to a swing set. He kisses her and after being buried alive (long story) Hodgins and Angela begin their relationship, and subsequently become engaged. However, Angela is married to another man (drunken night in the Caribbean) and although Hodgins finds it funny, when confronted with the husband the two break up because of trust issues.
Angela then dates a woman named Roxie, and when they break up, Hodgins and Angela have sex, and Hodgins calls it a “great moment.” They both stay single for a while, until Angela embarks on a relationship with an intern named Wendell, and it becomes quite obvious that Hodgins is still deeply in love with Angela.
In the last episode, Angela believes that she’s pregnant and she tells Hodgins. Even though they are not together, Hodgins tells Angela that he loves her and he wants to help raise her child. When she finds out that she wasn’t pregnant, there is an awkward moment of silence before she tells Hodgins that she’ll never forget that he offered and the two walk off together.
It is so apparent that these two belong together. Hodgins knows Angela better than anyone, he is always there for her. While some could say that she doesn’t deserve him, in my mind, the heart chooses who it wants, and Hodgins will always be in love with Angela. Angela just needs to see that Hodgins is the partner for her. I cannot wait to see how it happens.
Unfortunately, everyone in the Bones community seems to only write about Booth and Brennen. So, if anyone knows where I can find some good Hodgin and Angela fics please let me know.
