--To the tune of Pop Goes the Weasel--Here we go round the Boy Scout fire. Again in trouble are we-e. This time it isn't really our fault. We only wanted to be an MC. ---How fun...NOT
Joined a new troop in November as Members of committee (MC). The Troop rechartered in Dec. and suddenly I am The Charter Head and Craig is an Asst. Scoutmaster. The Scoutmaster is having a fit. He wouldn't go to the planning lock-in that he scheduled(to busy with personal life)so the "New Asst.SM" went and now the "plans are no good." "Nothing was done right." "We are pushing him out of the troop." No one asked for his (SM) job. Neither of us asked for the positions we were chartered in. We did what we could to help make the troop stay together and plan functioning meetings. Does this mean that the third time is a charm? Does my youngest have to quit Scouts because we are cursed and can't stay in a troop or pack without getting booted or having someone want us booted. Just what the hell have we done to cause this anyway? Maybe I should just go the way of the two greatest Western Region Chiefs and just slowly fade into nothingness.
I love working with the guys and I am good at it. Why should I quit or be punished because I am better liked and have a much greater rapport with the boys after 4 months then the SM has in the past 6 yrs? If I get an answer to any of these questions I will be happy.
