1. I think both Ron and Ginny were the ones to get the raw end of the deal with H/G and R/Hr. They're both stuck in unequal relationships where they are the "inferior ones", one way or the other, not because they are inferior but because that's how they view themselves

I Agree with you Mostly 100%! I think Hermione also got a fair amount of a bad deal in the R/Hr relationship. The whole thing feeds in on itself, really. I wasn't kidding when I said "I could write a Doctral Thesis on how much R/Hr sucks

True, but this was about "unpopular opinions", and it's way more common to think that Hermione was the only one of them to get a raw deal. To the point where people assume you're anti-Ron if you're anti-R/Hr, which I'm very much not. I'm pro-Ron and pro-Hermione, hence anti-R/Hr.
I thought "Puppy Killers" was the unofficial name of the anti-Remus/Sirius shippers.
It probably is, but you know what I mean. :P The point is that the way people talk about the HP fandom, outside of the HP fandom, is that everything would be rainbows, kittens and marshmallows, if it weren't for those dreadful H/Hr-shippers hating on the canon pairings. Yes, because it isn't like you also have to contend with a bunch of canon-crusaders running about and telling people doing fanstuff that the pairing in it isn't going to happen. Oh wait, you do! At least if the pairing is het, conflicts either Ron/Hermione or Harry/Ginny, and is Harry/Hermione. (Or Ron/Luna for that matter.)
people assume you're anti-Ron if you're anti-R/Hr So true! I hate that stereotype! Along with "If you hate R/Hr you are a harmonian". As though there were only two ships. And "If you defend Ship X, then you ship it. You and my other sane H.P friends on LJ are the only people that make the fandom worth it for me.

Ah, yes. I blame the sensationalists like emerson (not worth the capitalization). He says nasty things about shippers, then only posts the responses from the twelve year old illiterates. And of course the outsiders only have that one view and believe it blindly. Idiots.
Which message? The message "What is it to you that they ship X/Y"? That's the source of all the fighting

He says nasty things about shippers, then only posts the responses from the twelve year old illiterates. To be fair, the first H/Hr-shippers to appear on the Wall of Shame were members of Harmony Forever who had invited him to discuss with us on the HF boards, an invitation he didn't as much decline as completely ignore until they produced something he could use to showcase how immature the Harmonians were. Several were well known BNF's who had argued well for ths ship in the past, but at the time were frustrated and annoyed that they were to be called delusional without a fighting chance to defend their position. So when time went and he didn't reply to the invitation, the thread that had been specifically opened for discussing with him why the word "delusional" was poor choice, the thread was instead turned into a venting thread

I don't think there really ever were a side that was more hostile than the other, between R/Hr and H/Hr I always saw R/Hr as more hostile. Part of it was my Bias- I didn't like R/Hr (forgot the initial reason). But the other half was that I felt that R/Hr shippers had an obligation that they didn't fulfill. I saw right away that JK didn't want H/Hr to sail, and I thought it was pretty obvious. That meant that R/Hr shippers had an obligation to be gracious. It wasn't ever a guessing game. It was what you liked and did not like. None of those idiots ever realized that. It was a book, not a sports game. You read it to be surprised and see what happened.
It's a matter of what we see and what we don't, I guess. That's exactly it. Which is why I'm still working on not seeing R/Hr fan = mean, bigoted person.
There's a lot of things, far more serious than shipping, where I don't get why people care so much about what someone else does
I'll get the popcorn
